Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.
I agree with kljesta on The Host. A rare monster movie with subtext and a heart.
Boon Joon-ho's most recent movie, Snowpiercer, is coming to the States next month. Very interested in that.

All this Kurosawa and no mention of Rashomon?
Also, for Vietnam War era movies...FMJ is so much better than Apocalypse Now and Platoon that it's crazy.

Plenty of great recommendations in this thread...
I'll add everything Wes Anderson, especially his newest film Grand Budapest Hotel.
I've seen two recommendations for "The Big Lebowski" so far. I'm going to go ahead and recommend you not to watch it. Movie isn't terrible, but it's extremely average - one of the most average movies I've ever seen, actually - and really not worth your time. I think most of the people who recommend it today do so because of nostalgia. Although it is possible that standards were so low in the early 90s that the movie was considered "good" (though not good enough to actually recommend it over other movies).
