Forums - Sony Discussion - Driveclub release date

This game having a PS+ version AND coming out on the same day as too many other games just screams failure. Hopefully I'm wrong but if this and The Order are all Sony has this holiday people are gonna be pissed.

I have to disagree, this game looks much more visually consistant, and the tracks in Project CARS look like barely finished street roads rather than racing tracks like they're supposed to

Well now, seems like a small window before Project Cars cuts off its legs. Sony really needs to take these things into account.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I am the only one who's relieved by this reveal? "Back to the drawing board" status back in february sounded like it wouldn't even get released this year.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Well this game just sold a lot less at launch. Guess they hope it has legs

I don't really think they are expecting it sell gangbusters anyway.  Though it will likely do respectable numbers, I think.  And actually since launch was so full with games for me I wasn't going to buy it, but now since I don't believe there is anything in October I am getting I will likely get it.  I would imagine some others are like that, but not a lot.

Yeah its just if I remember right the game is coming out at the same time as dragon age, alien isolation, and shadow of mordor.  And I think batman comes out the following week. Plus you'll have what ever ms releases.

Exactly how many big first party games are ever released during the holidays?  Hardly ever more than 2, maybe 3 if one is a slighly smaller title.  I mean it's opinions and all, but who the hell would get pissed if you get driveclub in October and The Order in November.  Especially if they review well and word of mouth is good.  Only people who will get pissed are the ones who don't want them, but I've had plenty of times where I don't want any of Sony's first party offerings and I don't get pissed because I know others will enjoy them.

Might be Sunset Overdrive. We could find out May 8th

Nowhere near ready is a logical conclusion.  Which is kinda disingenuous.

Sign of the industry maybe as well. Games cost more to make and take longer but are relatively the same cost for consumers as they were 10 years ago. So companies need to do more to make money back. Tomb Raider was made in 1996 and had yearly sequels pretty much until 2000 by the same studio. Assasin's Creed has yearly games, made by pretty much all of Ubisoft.

No wonder Indie/mobile phone games are more lucrative.

Alas, good that this game actually has a release date.

Hmm, pie.

Yeah you just missed my edit! :-p

I totally forgot about those.  I believe only dragon age will give it some competition and sell a lot.  Alien and shadow of mordor will sell respectively, but I think DriveClub has the potential to sell more, at least on PS4.
