who really cares?

Sony and Microsoft.

Well and the fans who literally crave the pleasure endorphins from witnessing positive sales data.

I swear from 2006-2008 the buzz I got was better then any game I played and now am super jealous others get that high now ;)

i honestly dont know how to respond to that.

So you predict 4m Xbox one's in the next 12 months?  and you even made a spreadsheet to illustrate this nonsense?

Wow.  It will sell much more than 4m in the US alone in that time frame.

Yep, "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"

Why did you highlight Feb and not March?

anyhow, we will see how wrong you are by Dec 31st wont we.

Because it didn't changed that much... 860k vs 490k.

January was 710k vs 280k.

April I think will be like between Jan and Feb.

IMHO sony can only sell 5 mln more units this year (maximum)
(7 * 0.7 mln units)

Pachter said that in 2013 production speed was 0.4 mln per month.
Even twice as fast Sony can only make 9.6 mln units per year.

Taking sales linearly theoretically it will happend in may 2015

LOL there is someone who takes Pachter serious. If production was 400k a mont, why is the PS4 selling at a rate of 1m/month. How come you didnt ask yourself this important question? 2nd: production capacity will increase as yields improve, no way Sony will keep its current rate of production in the Holiday period.

At current production:

Sometime in may: 8m PS4s sold

in June: 9m

July: 10m

August: 11m

September(destiny): 12M

Sony will ramp up production in the summer and stock lots of surplus PS4 ready for the Fall season. I predict they'll sell ~6m PS4s in that period. LTD sales will be between 16-18m by the end of the year.

So what?
The PS4 needs more than that to meet its goal. Doing 2:1 in one year doesn't erase the year before that. Even if it stays at 2:1 throughout this year(which I don't believe) it would still not be 2:1 overall. It's getting even harder in 2015 and if the X1 doesn't tank completely it will never happen.

Actually the PS4 needs another 1.5m to double Xbone sales 2:1, Im sure that PS4 will manage that this year, I even think PS4 will double combined Xbone and WiiU sales sometime in 2015 or 2016 at the latest.

Only if the ratio continues throught out every hollydays season, where basicaly 60% of yearly sales are accounted.

Last hollydays the ratio was 4 to 3... so, the chances are slim of a 2 to 1 ratio even if nothing changes.

At the holiday launch neither console had established a user base/marketshare, so their demonstrated popularity was not a factor.
At this point with significant PS4 sales lead (or parity in US market), there is also the additional factor of "buying what your friends have"
which benefits the console with the larger install base (unless one wants to assume that PS4 buyers have no friends and influence nobody).
Current sales we are seeing, at 2:1 or near it, are happening in that context of a relevant install base to influence decisions.

I agree at the short-sightedness of thinking MS will throw big money at subsidies but Sony won't,
PS4 is more important for Sony than MS, and PS4's demonstrated popularity makes any subsidies more of a "sure thing" investment for them.
Sony Corporate have been selling off unproductive and extraneous assets, aiming to invest that in their core business, of which PS4 is a part of.
"Locking in" solid 2:1 market share with next holiday season sales is a "gimmee" for Sony, so I fully expect competitive pricing from them.
Eventually they can ride out the gen with less price/profit pressure after establishing a lead, when it is beyond the point of return for a shift in market.
Locking in that solid market share domination will also help them be more successful in any innovations like the VR headset, leveraging larger base.

Sony's current production capacity is probably underspecced at least for this stage of the generation (who knows how sustainable vs. frontloaded it will be)
and I fully expect them to bring online more capacity, particularly given their tarriff issues in Brasil, a new facility there makes lots of sense.
So they may very well bring even more capacity online by autumn in order to saturate channels even more this holiday,
preventing MS from gaining any share simply by Sony being unable to keep up with demand.  Although that may still happen.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but 2.7:1.2 is a bigger gap than 2:1. If the 2014 ratio is maintained, they will eventually reach a 2:1 ratio in overall sales.

That math doesn't add up. The PS4 doesn't just need to sell 1.5 million more than X1 from now on. They will also have to additionally double the number of all X1 sales while catching up those 1.5 million.
by the time they get close to 2:1 it will be holidays and I absolutely doubt that PS4 will outsell X1 2:1 in November and December. Which will in fact push them back in their schedule again. And then there is Halo. Yes The PS4 will have its system sellers too but none of those are Halo.
