Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction: Wii U will be discontinued by 2015

I will make the following bold prediction:

The Wii U will be discountinued sometime in 2015.

The Wii U will fail to sell more than 9 million copies by the end of 2014.

MK8 And Smash will be huge commercial flops. They will sell well below expections.

Zelda and other announced IPs will be moved to whatever console Nintendo releases next. Sometime by 2015 or 2016 at the very latest.

Nope, Next please! These bold predictions are becoming less and less thoughtful by the thread

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

No....they will have a newer model though: WiiUTu!

Yea... Nintendo must be thinking "Lets put all our effort and resources into making so many games for this system and then killing it."

GENIUS!

The realistic about it is that nintendo would release a platform in 2015 fiscal year. QoL is releasing in the april 2015 to march 2016 frame time.
So, is zelda for QoL!

add on the fact that X and Zelda and many others to come out that year and this is PURE GENIUS

Commercial flops eh? Wat do you thinkthey will sell lifetime? Ths should be interesting

I doubt it- good way to lose consumer confidence. Would you buy a Nintendo console if you thought they could pull the plug at any time?

Now that's a signature!

No reason for that. They'll try to extract as much profit as they can from it before replacing it. It's not like the next console will definitely be a smash hit. The only way I see them dropping the Wii U that early is if there is no risk with its successor, which is pretty much impossible.

They also have their loyal fans to think of. Killing the Wii U this early would earn them a lot of hard feelings.

However, they'd better be working hard right now to turn things around in the future. They failed to properly lay the groundwork for the Wii U--that can't happen again.
