Lately there has been a lot of talk as to why EA or Microsoft haven't announced titanfall numbers where Sony has been bragging about infamous numbers. Theories of Titanfall flopping, not managing to meet expectations have been talked about to death. but in reality that most likely not the case.

First of all, it is not Microsofts place to announce Sales numbers for EA's game. even if they secure rights for exclusivity, its still EA's game and its still EA's decision to announce numbers or not. So here are my two main reasons why EA hasnt announced any numbers yet.

1- The 360 Version just released. and today it just has spent its first full week on the market. logically speaking, if EA want to announce numbers, why not wait until the 360 Version released and they can announce bigger numbers than just the PC/XB1 total?

2- And this is the biggest reason, while many are comparing TitanFall to infamous, saying these games are competing, reality is that they are not. if EA release TF sales figures, at first people will compare them to infamous, but shortly after, they will be compared to the real compitition, which is of course no other than Call Of Duty, and once they do, TF will look seriously lacking (in terms of sales).

If EA announced the 1 million milestone for TF, people will compare it to the 10's of millions CoD sells each year. BF3 sold what, 15 or 18 million? CoD reaches a billion sales each year? how would TitanFall look when EA go up and say that the game that was supposed to "capture the casuals" away from CoD "only" did a million or two?

TitanFall will most likely reach 6 or 7 million sales this year, or even higher, and thats when EA should announce the numbers. when TF reaches "Mega" sales, so people can compare it to the "Mega" franchises. This is why i dont see EA's lack of TF announcments as a sign of TF under performing. Fact of the matter is TitanFall competes with CoD, not infamous. EA doesnt care one bit about infamous numbers and in reality doesnt compete with it, so it shouldnt care if Sony announced Infamous numbers, really why should EA care anyways?.

Very astute, and completely accurate.

Recentely, MS and EA don´t have the tradition of disclaiming how many units they sold.

Corolary;

Do we have the official Halo 4 numbers?

And Battlefield 4?

And FIFA?

...

I reckon we'll get shipped figures sometime over the next month in the region of 4m+

How much did MS talk about Titanfall before launch? A LOT. They promoted it with first party status and marketing reach. Why the change?

MS and Respawn barely mentioned the 360 version existed at all before now. Why miss the sweetspot timing for an announcement to wait for a version with no hype?

MS's promotion strategy is to act like THE COMPETITION DO NOT EXIST. They never mention other platforms in their releases by name. Giving respect to Infamous like that does not fit.

I agree about it being compared to it's competitors. While it's selling well on the X1, simply announcing 1 - 2 million sales will seem pretty tragic compared to the 20 million COD sells on a yearly basis (with 10 of that on the X1/360). Even if the 360 version were to double the X1 (which seems pretty unlikely :p), it sales would still be a long way off.

Of course, it's not really fair to compare COD to TF at this point, but it won't stop the comparisons being made.

I would say that right about now EA's missing the fact that they didn't get another million sales by also putting Titanfall on PS4. Oh well, there's still time to figure out what you can do to try to alleviate some of that with the Game of the Year Edition EA.

Hyping a game and annoucning sales figures is a way different thing. I don't even know why you would compare it like that.

I suspect they might want to wait until NPD results before they use it as positive PR - so many games, so many titans killed, X copies shipped in March... etc etc.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Because it's less than they expected. And even though xbox one has a lower userbase than ps4, is not amazing compared to infamous ss.
