Forums - Gaming Discussion - Indie Games are not important ot "Consoles Wars" any more??

Because theres no good exclusive inde game worth braging about. So until that day comes the majority of the playstation 4 community will just ignore the indes.

I think the point of indie games is that they act like a buffering zone between AAA releases so I think they are still relevant, some are even better than AAA releases imo

Not everyone can/want play TitanFall/Cod/BF/etc for hours and hours, some of us just love single player and for those kinds of people specially, indie games are very important

That's how i see them. I don't think they play a huge role in someones actual decision to buy a console, but they are a good filler for when someone is bored. It's a great way of keeping your customers happy while you trickle out the major releases, which i suppose in turn brings in better sales (the more a customer is happy, the more likely they are to tell others).

if i had a ps4 i'd be extremly hyped about transistor, so i think indie games do matter... the good ones anyway.

Game deserves more attention so somebody go make a thread how this is GOTG and xbox and wiiU won't get it (not right away anyway).

Indies fill the void left by solid B games.. But the problem that indies have is that they don't attract any new user (except the mighty Minecraft) The lose of for example movie tie ins is hurting a lot.. Would love to have seen a Dark Knight Rises, Captain America 2, Thor 2, Iron Man 3 game but they went Mobile.. I even think a series like Fifa will be affected.. a free Mobile version vs a yearly retail one..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

On the pc often you get charity bundles of games that you can pick up for like 60p for 7 games, mainly older PC titles or indie games. Often the same indie games are many pounds each on console. Even for the cost of a few pence I still don't buy them. If there is a single game I actually know I will play I buy but most are rip off's of classic retro games and bring little new to the table. Some are clever and inspired but when you start playing you lose interest quickly as you have more exciting mainstream games to play.

I don't think indie games are that important for console. Also pricing on consoles doesn't match pc, ios, android etc for the same games. So often its poor value to buy them on console anyway.

The Ouya was sold on the basis of a huge variety of indie games are available at low cost with no mainstream major games available.

Indie games are completely irrelevant to te wars. The console with the most and best AAA titles will win. I think MS will have 1/3rd more AAA games.

LOL so let me get this straight, you have made a thread specifically to complain and attack NeoGaf and their silly shenanigans when your thread is specifically made to mock NeoGaf and debate a console war that you look down at?

as to your topic, indie game are games, whether you like that or not. doesnt matter the marketing budget behind it or the number of developers creating it. No Man's Sky cought more attention at the VGX than every other game shown there and Quantum Break, Witcher, Dying Light were shown. with The Division showing off its engine and TitanFall showing off a new Titan. No Man's Sky is made by just 4 people, and Sony and Microsoft went bat shit crazy after trying to secure the game, and there is a reason for that.

No until they become mud-slinging or bragging material again.

"I have something you don't have so it's the most important thing in the world"

Fans of whatever it is (consoles, cpus, cars, women...) always want that their "product" is the best because they own them. And to feel better they also try to put their beloved child in a better light than others so they take "advantages" to show that the others have a worse product.

I think some people here didn´t understand the main point on my argument.

Back in september/october last year the console war was raging on 4 topics.

1- Price

2- Mulplat performance

3- Exclusives

4- And Indies.

The PS4 was supose to be winning all four topics. Indie games were still a thing that Sony fans to brag about.

And lets be honest, with the TF bundle, other temporary price cuts, and after the launch window games the only point that PS4 is still fairly ahead is with Indie Games.

Indie games dominate the console wars discusion for many months last year. But now, I would say that 90% of the discusion is about "native" resolution on multiplat games.

Price is another interesting situation, but it desevers another thread: (AKA this kind of dicotomy: Microsoft is despearated princing at 450... Sony was smart princing at 400.)
