Wii U.
Depending on what games you like the answer will change. Seeing as you had a 360 and liked it i would think that the PS3 has more exclusives than the Wii-U that would take your fancy.
For me it would be like

Mario Kart Wii
Smash bros brawl (I did not like it but if I dont list it I will be killed)
Mario Galaxy (did not like it but will get killed if not mentioned)
Mario Galaxy 2 (did not play it because i did not like the first. has to be listed because i will get killed)

Obviously the PS3 has all the 3rd parties 360 has. Maybe you have missed a good few games that were on the 360 that you never managed to pic up.
Also the PSN games. Wiiware is pretty crappy.
Both good options. I would pic a PS3 personally but I already have a Wii so i know what to expect from it from BC is no big issue in my opinion.
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st
Wii U is the best buy unless you like JRPG's. At that point you have quite a bit of a backcatalog and upcoming games for the PS3. Most of the other games you have already played on the 360.
The Wii U on the other hand still has some years to live and will offer you exclusive content for those coming years. It also already has some worthwhile games out.
Basically, if you want to save up go for PS3. If you want to invest in the future, go Wii U.
Wii U is a no brainer, unless there's a particular game you are eager to play on 360 or PS3, in which case just get the one that has it.
Ok, so i'm pretty aware of all the PS3 exclusives and there are some solid ones I want to play Beyond Two Souls, Demon Souls, Ni No Kuni, Heavy Rain, God of War, Journey, Metal Gear Solid 4 and The Last of Us. I keep seeing people saying that Wii U would be best because it's backwards compatible. I know i want to play pretty much all of their first party exclusives. However, what third party games does Nintendo have that I would want to play similar to the list above? I am into RPGs, adventure games, and some of the non-standard ones like Ico and I assume Journy and Heavy Rain fall on that category.
Well Wii U can play Wii U games and Wii games, as well as having a fairly large virtual console selection (you can use the Wii and Wii U VC to buy games from tons of old consoles). If you miss Nintendo games then you will get a heaping helping with the Wii U...
EDIT: I will add that Nintendo consoles tend to get more niche titles when you are looking into third parties. There are great games for the Wii such as Little King's Story, No More Heroes and Muramasa but there are fewer prototypical genre games.
i dont get.
everybody misses nintendo games, but no one wants to buy a wii U.
