Aside from maybe Chorus Men, all those in the OP are pretty well known characters.

yeah,.. no they aren't.
..or at least no better known then nariko (heavenly sword), spike (ape escape), sir daniel (medievil), fat princess (fat princess), radec (killzone), or toro all of whom which got tons of flack for being nobodies.

Shulk and Chrom I completely agree, but I want Bayonette and Sora(kingdom hearts).
This source doesn't leak it guesses. A lot of people always wanted Megaman and Little Mac and New Leaf was so successful nobody could ignore it. So I would say it is possible but not sure.

Even i know who Spike is, and i never owned a PS console (or even played Ape Escape with friends' PlayStations back in the day). I also knew who Radec and Nariko were.
Only Toro was the real wtf character, and you're allowed a few of those.
I thought the bigger criticism was characters like Big Daddy who had little reason to belong there?
Anyway, none of these would be too bad in that regard.
