They are going trilogy on FFXV, pretty sure that no other main serie FF game is being developped right now.

Did you even read the OP?

I already covered in the first paragraph how I made this thread to show people that current-gen (PS4/One) will not revolve around FFXV trilogy like last-gen (PS3/360) did with the FFXIII trilogy. Also, if you read all the points I provided in the OP, you'll see it's obvious that Ito is secretly working on FFXVI for release this gen.

I just don't see the point in releasing two series at the same time. They already said they needed to make any main FF a trilogy to justify the costs of a AAA J-RPG.

I mean, what would happen, they would release FFXV, then XVI, then XV-2, etc ? Or try to go for yearly releases ?

They were already releasing two series at the same time on PS2 and PS3.

With PS2, they released FFXII (2006) and FFXII: Revenant Wings (2007) alongside FFVII: Advent Children (2005), Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII (2006), and Crisis Core: FFVII (2007).

With PS3, they released FFXIII (2009), FFXIII-2 (2011), and Lightning Returns: FFXIII (2013) alongside FFXIV (2010) and FFXIV: A Realm Reborn (2013).

Basically, they've done it before and they'll do it again. I can see FFXVI releasing sometime during the FFXV trilogy. Heck, FFXVI may even get a sequel released when the FFXV trilogy is over.

This would be great since FFXV is a stupid button mashing action game and by no means a real Final Fantasy.

FFXV will be great. My main concerns are it was announced in 2006 as a FFXIII spin-off for PS3 and it now graphically looks like a upscaled PS3 game. It doesn't look like it's pushing current-gen hardware. I hope that FFXVI is graphically on par with Agni's Philosophy.

Every single (non MMO)FF in the series so far was a button masher. Pretty sure a lot of A and X buttons got worn out thanks to FF games.

Except of course FFXII which played itself even without buttons.

I think its about the 3rd time you made this thread... despite your claim that its the first. I have had this conversation with you before.

There really isnt anymore to say than when you made the other ones. Yeah, he can be working on it, but we wont know for sure until its confirmed.

Though there is a bit of logic i can offer you. Nomura will be busy with KH3 after FFXV is done. That much is sure.

That means that the horrible FFXIII team might take over the role of making the sequals. Since Ito has had a project for a long time now, its possibly not one of the sequals. Still, we cant really say what it actually is. God forbid... maybe he is working on Chrono Break. lol... right. We wish.

I think I've made a thread on this subject before (Ito directing FFXVI), but not a thread that lists all the points of evidence like this. Anyway, I just hope we get to see his next mainline FF soon. I expect FFXVI to be announced in 2015 and released in 2017.

Don't worry! Square Enix is already working on Final Fantasy XXVII!

I posted in that last thread of his.  Though, it might have been made by that fellow with the Vagrant Story avatar.

As much as I would like to believe the OP, I don't really see any evidence FF XVI is even off the ground. At the moment S-E needs to win back their core audience. They need to make XV good and get it out the door.

I imagine after that teams will make proposals for which projects should get the most attention. We know for a fact XV-2 and XVI will both be on the table then, and probably a few other projects. And I imagine a lot of that decision will be made after XV is out the door and S-E gets fans to tell them if they want a sequel or a new title immediately.

Although immediately with S-E is two years or more.

FFXVI will have a sequel, it will be trilogy. But where will the money come from ? Where will the staff come from ?

FFXIII and FXV were highly impacted by FXIV 2.0 development. I don't think you want that to happen again.

Wow, such an extreme point of view on a game we don't know anything on the gameplay yet.

FFXV is one of the best looking current gen games atm, idk how you think it looks like an upscaled PS3 game.  Go on youtube and compare FF Versus 13 to FFXV, the difference is night and day.

We're not certain that FFXVI will be a trilogy. After all, FFX and FFXII were not trilogies. FFXVI could just get one sequel like FFX and FFXII did.

As for the money, Square Enix have enough in the bank to fund FFXVI. How else do you think they've been able to fund developing a massive MMORPG like FFXIV: A Realm Reborn in less than 3 years, even despite the original game losing the money? They have enough in the bank. Then you have the fact they've been pumping money into developing Luminous Studio, an engine on par with Unreal Engine 4, Frostbite 3, and CryEngine. Then you even have the fact their already planning sequels for FFXV and developing KHIII. They have enough money.

As for the staff, the FFXII team haven't released a AAA game since 2007. I'm sure they're the ones currently making FFXVI.
