I dunno i feel like they could have come up with a better name, but would as many people bought the SNES at the start if it was called Wii?

I will permaban myself if the game releases in 2014.

in reference to KH3 release date

People really believe that the primary fault with the wii u is it's name and that if it had a different name it's fate would be different? Delusional in my opinion.

The gamepad isn't intuitive like the wii mote was. People could understand that they could swing the wii mote like a baseball bat / tennis racket / sword, etc. which I believe was the primary reason behind its success. However, no one really knows how the game pad benefits the wii u. Changing the name doesn't fix that problem.

I think I see a pattern of some people clinging to straws...I seem to recall people saying DKC:TF would be a system seller. It may have caused a bump in sales but in no way was it a system seller.

I highly doubt it would have made any difference in most places. I have heard that in the US Nintendo fans are borderline retarded, and that people are incapable of telling the difference between DS and 3DS, as well as Wii and Wii U.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nintendo would have continued being doomed. Never forget this image!

Wii U is bad name, its makes confusion,
that and very bad marketing are biggest reasons for Wii U state now.

everyone saying NOPE is "lying". Why?

I know a person that would have bought the system but because he just plays mainstream games on his 360 he has no idea if WiiU is an accessoire or not. So instead of having a chance to waste money on an accssoire for a console he does not have he just never bought it.

I also know a person (japanese girl) that owns every Nintendo system but has no idea what a WiiU is.

This makes it automatically Absolutely/Not too much

You're confusing fans with normal customers/users. When you just own something for normal usage and it gets a successor that just looks a little different but doesn't tell you what's different you wouldn't want it as well and might just know the other name because you care for tech. Tech is just successful these days because it's easy to use unlike 10-30 years ago when you had to know what you're doing with cables, frequencies, networking, etc. People don't understand it, it's just easy to use nowadays, so why should they bother with awkward names and stuff when they are used to tech that explains itself and works without anything but some power?

I own a MacBook - am I an Apple fan? No, I just like it a little better than Windows or Linux because it combines the complex tech side (Unix, Shell, ...) with a quick and easy UI and it's proven to be more reliable for me (freezed once in 4 years, no fragmentation, no formating needed, ...). Would I buy anything Apple now or read up everything about possible successors? No, I'm happy with what I have and don't want to "waste" time with new stuff when the old works like a charm.

Yep, we all know branding was one of the WiiU main problems.

Remember the confusion it caused to some consumers - specially those who are not big fans of videogames - when it was launched ? Some people just thought that Wii and WiiU were the same thing except that one comes with a new controller.

They should have come with a different name, something that didn´t sound so similar.

Meh it would have helped alittle, there are still hardware limitations and the lack of marketing. That wouldnt have changed. Its been totally mis-managed from the top down. Nintendo needs a shake up.
