Forums - Sony Discussion - When will there no longer be PS4 supply issues?

So PS4 inventory turns quite quickly any way you slice it. We hear a lot about the PS4 getting sold out everywhere. About half a million world-wide per month. Here are some questions that cross my mind regarding PS4 sales:

When will the supply issues cease?

When the PS4 hits its peak sales, will it still have supply issues?

Could Sony be keeping the supply artificially low to generate hype?

Could Sony be keeping the supply artificially low to justify the PS4's selling price for a longer length of time?

Does Sony strategically place more stock on key release dates of competitors as a way of being No. 1 at every possible time?

For comparison, in the height of the Wii craze, Nintendo sold nearly 2 million Wiis per month. During the beginning of the Wii craze, Nintendo had similar supply problems, but was shipping/selling fewer Wiis than what the PS4 does now.

Summer like Sony expect.

Lol ps4 fans are so gullible, there hasn't been any supply issues for months. Sony is just controlling the supply, put 2 and 2 together. They ever so conveniently had plenty of stock around the Titanfall launch and infamous launch. It seems supply issues is like a built in excuse now, sony is good I admit that.

When The Last Guardian releases.

To answer my own questions

1. By holiday 2014
2. No. Peak sales will happen about 2-3 years from now. Too early to make a judgment.
3. No. Big picture: they're doing their best to increase supply. They want as many people on their platform as early as possible. But they are being strategic with their timing.
4. Not necessarily -- but they have a strategic supply plan to keep the price they have through 2014.
5. In the short term: absolutely yes. They love to eat MS and Nintendo's lunch whenever possible. Their fans do too. With or without Infamous/Watch Dogs, they'd release a larger than normal shipment the week of Titanfall/Mario Kart 8.

If there are more supply it could be sold way better in ISS launch... UK, IT and even ES was sold out after ISS launch.

US too... excepct exepensive bundles and Amazon + Gamestop... everything is SOLD OUT.

Well there really isnt any major stock issues in the USA. I assume Europe and others will follow, potentially lining up with the very beginning of summer, as Sony has already said.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

It needs to sell +230k next week to keep the supply argument feasible

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

It has been the last few weeks around here. Launch and holidays were never as bad here as people made it out to be elsewhere (I was even able to buy a few myself to sell for profit elsewhere) but I would say from maybe late January until late February it was harder to find them but lately I have seen them in Target and Walmart.

Quite possibly those 2. Not ramping up supply would make word of mouth and desirability go through the roof and wouldn't put pressure on them to price cut for a very long time.

And I did find it very odd how PS4 supply magically got a huge shipment when Infamous released. Sony could very well be saving some for more opportune times of the year.
