Forums - Sales Discussion - Weekly Hardware Up 3/8

Has supply really met demand? Or, has Sony production fallen? I'm not sure if this makes sense this week for the PS4.

Around the Network

All around my area I haven't seen a ps4 in stock since Launch. I'm not sure if they get a few and sell out or they haven't gotten anything.

So the same 3DS that sold under 100k in NPD during january is now doing same numbers as PS4 in US? Without any new big releases. Right....

NPD tomorrow won't show March sales. We know PS4 is almost spot on WW now though (lifetime sales as of early March). This week doesn't look right to me at all, since Amazon had stock for 4-5 days and we know it was selling over 100 systems per hour on its last day. It also supposedly got new stock at Walmart, Target and some other places

I know. That is exactly why I took my chances.

Come again? That USA PS4 number doesn't make sense

Damn lol, my bet with Zero is basically a statistical tie...

Link to the bet?

PlayStation 4 is doomed

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

The problem with weekly charts right now is that it won't really accurately track whats happening in terms of stock delivery. If Sony are still having trouble meeting demand or in fact producing or shipping them, and they are doing what they did in Early Jan, we will see weeks of drops and then the following week or two with massive jumps. I don't think VGC can ever track that easily, and it will be easier once its all settled down.

This is why its best not to get too over excited about weekly figures.

I think if we look at amazon they had some stock late/early this week and have more next week for the release of infamous, so it's not looking terrible in terms of stock delivery. Their biggest issue seems to be parts of Europe... Germany was seriously lacking stock.

I think i saw a few signs with PS4 for sales in the UK, so i think they are getting there. I think stock issues will be all but sorted in large cities etc on the whole at the end of March, I think they are going to do a massive drop for infamous.

I don't think the US PS4 numbers are legit, i live in Phoenix and the beginning of last week all the BestBuy and Gamestop stores in the area got shipments in. Currently there is only 1 Gamestop store that has low stock, and all of the BestBuy stores are sold out. If the numbers are that low where are all the PS4s? They aren't in stores here and sold out on pretty much every online retailer.

PS4 undertracked... NPD tomorrow will show that

I will be shocked if NDP.does not show a number at least 100k higher for PS4 for Feb and at this rate VGC will be 150k low for  March.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Geez I wish they'd get rid of yellow as a font colour!

Anyway, interesting numbers. The PS4 Amazon thing either means: Amazon is still insignificant as a hardware seller (PS4 was number one for a long while and Xb one never got above PS4 on the best seller list, but Xb one outsells PS4 across all US retailers, and PS4 was ahead of Xb one on the monthly best sellers for March); or VGC tracking is way off for the week (I would expect Xb one to take a bit of a dive the week before TF as people would be holding off buying Xb one for TF, more than a 1000 unit dive at least); or Amazon was the only retailer to get a PS4 shipment that week and while they may be becoming a more significant retailer in console hardware they aren't significant enough to influence total sales if all other retailers are short of supply; or I dunno there are probably other reasons for the Amazon best sellers list to be at odds with VGC for this week. One thing we can be sure of is that Amazon keeps track of its sales far more accurately than VCG can estimate sales across the country. This means IF Amazon is a reasonable indicator of the national picture VGC is certainly wrong about which of the 2 consoles sold the most last week.

Xb one USA sales 63% of total Xb one sales. That's good for Xb one fortunes.
