But I'm pretty sure that XBone is selling like butt because MS was being unreasonable with their $500 price, Kinect pack in that no one wants, attempt at DRM, etc, forcing a bunch of stuff on people that they don't want essentially.....extreme right wing

And Sony is being reasonable with a decent price, free games via PS+, better hardware for developers, never telling people they can't share their games

While not a big deal, it is a little annoying. Though, that may be the slight OCD some of us have, lol. To me it wouldn't matter who is on the left or right, as long as they are in ascending or descending order. This will be fine once the One passes the Wii U. Or if ioi changes the order, as he said he might do.

Nooooo, I often make a comparison between consoles and political idealogies as a serious reference point for discussion.

 

sarcasm aside, analogies actually are useful in discussions, considering they take issues that people may not "get" and make them understandable/relatable.

but no, let's just undermine that fact to use sarcastic condescension at people for actually looking at your "joke" and just saying that the comparison should be rearranged, and nothing more.....

When the code to create the graph was first created, the order of unit sales was Wii, 360 and PS3 so it made sense to place them in descending order which remained throughout much of the gen.

When the code was replicated to produce the "next gen" chart, I did a find & replace for Wii -> WiiU, 360 -> One, PS3 -> PS4 and that is what we have now.

In some ways I like the idea of keeping the order as it is (same with colours which people keep asking me to swap around) just for the sake of tradition and because people are used to the current order, in other ways the control freak side of me wants to place them in descending order which I probably will do once Xbox One > Wii U...

Because VGC started as a Nintendo centric site thanks to the overwhelming initial consumer support for the Wii.

The XB360 had already been on the board for a year, before VGC even existed as an entity to track sales.

And the PS3 (in terms of sales relative to the build up and hype from the PS2 sales records days) was such a big disappointment that it was assumed by most that it would be "PS3rd" for the duration of the 7th gen.

As for now, it's not really that big of a deal.

Sure, it wouldn't take more than a line or two of net code to swap the place holders so that they were 1st, 2nd and 3rd relative to market share percentages, but everyone is so accustomed to seeing Blue, Green and Red bars, why change it?
