Did you miss the part where the russian president fled from the country? Yes, there is plenty wrong with the russian parliament. Its a scham. The elections are fixed aswell, so nope. Its still a dictatorship in practice. It just tries to look like its not, and badly at that.

Well, thats what i heard from the news. Not my fault if its innacurate. Though i would like to be enlighted on your side of the events.

Though i especially would like for you to explain to me how it isnt a dictatorship, because Putin just keeps swapping between the president and prime minister positions to stay in power. I would like to see you say he doesnt have control over the powers of both those positions.

Again a hard question. From my point of view, this is acceptable on two reasons.

1. People are living better since Putin get to power.

2. People support him.

From the law point of view they made it the way that its 100% legal. And since most of Russia support Putin we close our eyes on some things. ))
Btw, if I know correctly, Rusvelt also was a president 3 times, even against some American laws. Should you call him a dictator because of this?

Not really interested in the Putin discussion, but I wanted to clear up a misapprehension. Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to the office of President four times. There was a custom (not a law) that since George Washington (the first president) only served two terms (voluntarily as he probably could have run the country as long as he wanted), that all following presidents only served two terms. FDR chose not to follow this custom and ran four times, getting elected each time until his death in office. FDR is not considered a dictator, but it was feared that someone in the future could use that loophole to keep power indefinitely, so Congress made a law restricting everyone to two terms.

As for questions...

How powerful are the Bratva? Does the average citizen in Russia have to really watch their backs on was my friend putting me on?

A guy from Siberia also told me that out there they don't have Santa Claus/Saint Nicholas, but some other winter gift-giver. Is that true?

Do older Russians, those that lived under the USSR, bear a grudge towards the USA or Western Europe?

Is chess as popular in Russia as it is shown in the media?

1. Its much lower criminal activity now. In 1995 when i was in school, local cryminal authorithy was blown up in his car right near school. Gunshots and even automats shooting was a thing. Now its very different, and most normal citisens don't crossing with criminals. Of course, if you want to get troubles for your ass, you'll get it. ))

2. Yes, we dond have Santa. We prefer Ded Moroz (grandfather Frost) and Snegurochka (his granddaughter).

3. No not much grudge to Usa/Europe. But Gorbachev and Eltsin are amongst the most hated persons between them. People blame them in destroying USSR.

4. Not as much as when I was a child, sadly ((

It roughly means 'sit down, slut!' )))

I heard the homophobia is really bad there, is that the case or just exaggerated?

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

List me 10 of the most famous/hottest Russian adult stars? ;P

Well, people don't like gays in Russia. Its a small quantity of them in Moscow/St Petersburg. I think in small towns showing you are gay may be dangerous. Its more not about sex habits, but about behaving at people.

I have a feeling that life become harder for gays in Russia last 2-3 years. Thats ok for me since it shows people's feelings about it.
