If theres anyone in the world that deserves death or life sentence thats this scum.
not because he killed many young pals, but because the stupid vanality of his motives and his attitude towards the act itself.
This is not a Taliban who saw his home or family or friends destroyed by foreing weponry and has obviously severe traumas and anger. This is just a rich guy on a country with very low criminality. He either mad or a full power moron.

At times like this i do wonder if the death penalty isnt justified.

That guy shouldnt still be alive after killing 77 other people. Actually, the thought that he will be released in 21 years is terrifying in itself.

Those 77 people wont be as lucky. Its all over for them. What right does he have to be alive, much less demanding for better human treatment? What better treatment did he give to the people he terrorised in that island? Just put him out tbh...

raelly not surprised.. and wont be surprised if he gets one, or atleast the rights to play more adult games (probably not FPS though) it ties into how they want to rehabilitate, rather than punish.

I still say medical testing. just take these killers and set them up in a program. inject them deadly diseases and then try to cure them. If they can survive 3, they get to go free. ... The 3rd one is always Ebola virus lol

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

not standarized death penalty, but just let him spar with victims family and friends for a hour on a lone room nad that would do it

That is actually a good idea. Theres no better subjects for human experimentation. They are people hwo should be dead anyways. Might aswell make amends with their lives trying to save lives to make up for the ones they took.

You really think this person at all, will be reformed? I think he gave up right to a second chance when he attacked a bunch of people on the most peaceful of days.

I'm not an expert. What I think is irrelevant.

The court made a judgement that I'd support before that of a forum-goer any day.

That is the maximum punishment in Norway sadly. Given they will never release him, as long as he is deemed danger to society, which he always will be, thankfully they had that in the rules.  Also honestly that philosphy isn't great either (Not saying mine is). Courts are bound by the law exists for them, pretty sure if harasher punishment was allowed they would have.  I am actually alright with the punishment system in Nordic nations compared to the United States (Outside of that it might too good), unless you involve mass murder of children.

Well what more prove do you need that he's backwards. Any sane human would demand a PS4 now.

Same thing here.

So you think giving the same easy punishment that Nordic nations have to this guy is a good idea?

The punishment is not the crucial part. The crucial part lies within the treatment.

Punching a criminal may feel good to us personally, but it won't make the criminal realize that what he did was wrong. The treatment is all about making him come to that realization.

Brehvik himself told the press he is a retributivist instead of an utilitarian as far as his view of justice goes. Rehabilitation may be an important part for a lot of misguided people, but it would seem like his psyche is too strong for him to ever let himself be manipulated as a The Sims character having his personality preferences being edited. It might be held as an insult to the individualism of the person in question.

Besides, if justice is held as the greatest ammount of happiness to the greatest ammount of people, up from trying to correlate the concept with well-being or freedom, or even Marxist theories of social meritocracy, the position of the individual plus the retributive answer to the society might be more important than the individual himself, as unfortunate as the implications might be...

The system isnt too bad until you come to the conclusion that wether you kill one person or 70, you get the same punishment.

I do think that in the case of mass murdurers every country should have a special clause to allow the death penalty. There are some cases where the person cant be allowed to live anymore, for the sake of all those that didnt because of him/her. That guys needs to be shot in cold blood.

Can you imagine if you lost a dear one to that bastard? Would you be ok with him walking around and demanding better treatment? Hes lucky he isnt beein roughed up on a daily basis, cause that is what he deserves.

Like the brazillian guy showed, they should send him to a brazillian jail for a year. Ah! He would be thankful when he got back, or he would be killed there. Both of wich are satisfactory results.
