Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Rayman Legends a great platformer?...better or worse than NSMBU?

Legends is awesome and I love the art style.

Rayman Legends is better then New Super Mario Bros. U. (I actually really liked NSMBU) Rayman Legends is definitely more unique and original and it has a lot of content. Can't go wrong with it in my opinion.. It's definitely one of the better games on the WiiU so far

I think Rayman Legends (Wii U version) ist better than NSMBU. Better artstyle, music and creativity.
But it's a little too easy, I found almost all Teensies at first try and and always had enough lums for the gold cup.
Dying has almost no consequences because there are many checkpoints.

NSMBU ist still very good, better than other NSMB games. Maybe the best level design since SMW, but don't expect innovations. There's more or less only one new suit.

Wow, everybody here seems to love Rayman Legends... Looks like that should be my next Wii U game.

Id say in terms of actual production value Rayman is better than NSMB (which is the worst and cheapest mario platforming series ever)

Of course the game lacks mario powerups (because of that most platformers are boring IMHO) but when you play it on WiiU it somewhat nullifies that flaw with stuff you have to move etc. So its not just jumping and jumping etc.

It can also be a pretty fast paced game which is fun (NSMB is slow compared to it and the old mario games)

The levels are also pretty different so its not more of the same all the time. And well the visuals are great.

Do you like DKCR? If yes then you will probably also like Rayman. If not then I am not so sure chances are you will still like it like I do.

I dont really like DKCR alot because its just running jumping and some sort of PRESS BUTTON AT CORRECT MOMENT TO NOT DIE WHEN FIRED FROM A BARREL etc.
(I dunno how to call it lol RTE/RTM? right time event/moment?lol)

I miss the block/coin/powerups from Mario. But the "obstacles" you have to move, the speed and the gameplay variety is enough to keep me entertained.

I dunno if this will be of any use for you xD

Thank you all for the answers.I'm strongly leaning towards getting the game next week...by the way, what's up with these Murphy levels that seem to be the weak part of the game?...are they that bad?

the only thing Rayman ia better is visuals and audio, and thats hihgly debatable and depending on tastes mostly

Mario is more traditional plataforming. I dont like Rayman and it popurri of stages. COntrols are simpler and more responsive on Mario games...
i dunno i like Mario games much more. Rayman games are good to look at.

I want both morenoingrato and Rol to post in this thread.

OT: I personally didn't like Legends that much, Origins is a much much better game. Never liked the NSMB series, I'm probably 1 of the 3 Nintendo fans on earth who doesn't own ANY of the NSMB games.

Nintendo and PC gamer

It compares very favorably to Mario in the fun department, actually. I probably like NSMBU a bit better overall, but Rayman Legends is absolutely spectacular.
