Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN gives Lightning Returns a 7.0

Bullshit it deserves a 10

7 is good in my book.

Even if they gave this game an 11/10 I wouldn't buy it.

The story was dreadful before, anyway. Good gameplay is refreshing, though... even with the limitations it has.
I am kinda interested, believe it or not.

Coming in the mail today!

Will definitely get it, but no before it hits 19.99$ mark. At that price no regrets !

Not quite sure why I'm buying it, but I've pre-ordered it. It's Final Fantasy.

For some reason according to metacritic a 7/10 counts as a mixed review? That's kinda stupid if it were a film they'd be a good review.

That's because apparently for films, the whole range from 0 to 100 is used, whereas for games the range is more like 40-100 in practice. You could try putting the reviews of all games in a single chart and there would probably be a peak in the range of 70 to 80, whereas for movies the peak would be lower. I'm saying 'probably' because I don't have any actual research to back up my claim but that just seems to be the way it goes. One big reason is probably that movies are often rated from 0 or 1 stars to 5 stars and a direct conversion gives relatively low results compared to what we're used to with games. Personally I think the game review scale is competely broken when about 60% of the scale is unused most of the time and only 20% are generally games worth getting, and even those not necessarily.

YEah game reviews are a mess imo, needs a total overhaul. Seems anything below 8 is considered bad which is assinine. Putting a number on a review makes no sense. Either recommend it , highly recommnd it or not.

I'm really conflicted about this game. On the one hand, I loved everything about XIII-2 and am itching to see the conclusion.

But on the other hand, things in this review put me off. Boring fetch quests; no exp from combat. Stuff like that. Not what I'd expect from Final Fantasy.

I will be picking this up, but I'll wait for it to be at bargain bin prices again.
