Actually, yeah.

Nintendo are well known for keeping exact release dates in the dark until very near the release.  That's why they use the temporary season or quarter dates a lot.

What are the examples then? In the last 2 years?

Rather tough to pinpoint exact case since it's not easy to track down when specific launch dates were first announced.

I know Wii Fit was also not announced until the same time as Mario Kart.  SSBB's date was announced in January and the game relased on March 9th.

Yeah all that stuff was years ago though. And what with all the delays and stuff ... a late may release wouldn't surprise me.

Even if they announce the release date in march for 6 weeks, that is still early may~

shipped "sold to retail" or sold?

Just wait until Super Smash Bros. 4 comes out... heh heh

DK Tropical Freeze come out in a few weeks. I think that will probably boost sales a bit. Even Pikmin 3 increased sales when that came out and that was seen as a good game but a niche one at that.

Or stabalise them year over year? Because Nintendo don't anticipate a bump, they're planning to ship the same amount as they did last year.

6.1 - 6.3 million, by June 10th.

well thanks for clearing that up!   how i could ever get confused on this most obvious of topics is beyond me.  i is such much n00b.

I looked at some past figures and it seems WiiU's in the channel go way below 500k in the slow months. So I would actually bet 6m is achievable (without Mario Kart). I would bet it won't hit 6.2m then.
