Bragging no, just stating its holding its own now in japan when cross the board things are down yoy
Sad to see Wii U sales going down but with barely any games, that is expected. Unless good games keep coming on a monthly basis, i don`t see things really changing for Wii U.
colafitte said: Ufff 3ds..., i don't remember being so low in years in Japan....I thought i knew why people didn't buy home consoles in Japan was because they were buying handhelds instead, but now........., even handhelds sell badly. Every gamer in Japan just disappeared or what????, everyone there just play on mobiles???? I wish i could say all these low sales right now were because people are awaiting PS4 release but i'm afraid that would be lying to myself. |
to add:
i can get handhelds doing poorly in the west,.. smart devices are killing them. but, to the best of my cultural understanding, i didn't think mobile games were as popular in japan.
not going to lie, all of these numbers suck.
Vita is doing well. Next week we have Disgaea 4, wich probably will make it not drop too much. But then it will have 4 weeks before another wave of releases, with Infinite Stratos 2 and Hatsune Miku. After that, we have SAO and then comes Soul Sacrifice Delta, Freedom Wars and Phantasy Star Nova(last two we dont know release date yet). It will do OK in Japan this year. What worries in on Europe and America(wich it is pratically dead)

Without any localization to those well known 3rd party Japanese games that has a western market, the Vita will remain extremely flat in EU and dead in NA. :( :( :(
The Wii U is on fire in Japan like always..

Afaik mobile gaming pretty much exploded last year in Japan (+ over 50%), making it the largest market for mobile games/apps (larger than US).

orly? i didn't hear that. well that probably explains (in part) why 3DS is dropping soo fast. if sony/nintendo are making next gen handhelds they damn well better be capable of making phone calls or they'll be DoA.
Japanese mobile/tablet market is the biggest single nation market in the world now, it's just gaining so much ground and leaving little to no place for dedicated handhelds and home consoles that put themselves directly in the line of fire (Wii U). This is 100% to be expected (and indeed is on my part).
