Nintendo is irrelevant yet they are constantly talked about

Nintendo is not important so we have to talk about it

Myth is just stressed out that people broke out of their containment area and started leaving opinions everywhere. Give him a break.

Except the most important one. You know, making games.

Of course, they could just buy all the studios but they could also buy Nintendo and replace it.

So they are both pretty much "replaceable"?

Interesting.

In fact many gurus and analysts from the industry said Nintendo is no longer necesary for it

I think the last few gens and the start of this one has proved that none of the big three is that important. If one fails there'll be others (potentially) picking up the slack. It's very possible that the industry will shrink because of it but it won't die.

Edit:

I do however believe that Sony and MS are easier to replace simply because of how similar they are to each other.

Can we also admit that Sony isn't important either? If so, I agree that both companies aren't important since Sony can be easily replaced by Samsung in many departments

But obviously no one else is gonna agree to that so I disagree

I'm actually not that familiar with Sony hardware, but the retail electronics game is pretty competitive, so I don't doubt it.

In terms of the industry as a whole, I definitely agree both aren't that important.

Well, Samsung has enough money to just go buy the gaming companies they need if they really want to get into gaming... Their net income is 30 billion dollars (as a whole company) for gods sakes (if wiki is true that is) vs Sony's is 458 million (as a whole company according to wiki)

And I think Nintendo is more important than Sony in terms of gaming so if Sony goes down and Nintendo stays alive, Couldn't care less since Sony is not THAT important imo

well not everyone likes COD style games or yearly sports games. Some people like RPG's, Action adventures, platformers, arcade racers, futuristic racers, tactical games, puzzle games, snowboarding, rail shooters, and FPA's. Nintendo is the only publisher to basically cover most types of genres.

No disagreement from me on any specific point, but that doesn't necessarily pertain to its importance in the industry so much as its visibility.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

No wonder. They've been existing independently of the industry for at least a decade.

well, now I have to agree

Agree. But not change the fact Samsung can easily replace many Sony's departments. And before some users start to quote me, I am a secretly blind Playstation fanboy. PS4 is the only console I don't have.

Gaming will go on if Nintendo dissapears. It would be sad for me though, I love their games and one of the reasons I still game todays is the Zelda franchise. If they wen away I would certainly game a lot less.

But that's just me. The gaming industry will shrink a little but someone else will replace them shortly after that.

3. Nintendo makes the best games, period. I can only imagine that the ones pushing this idea either have very narrow interests or very little exposure. Nintendo makes fun, highly polished games, but they aren't the only ones, and many of those other fun, highly polished games have the depth and maturity (actually maturity, not M-rated, etc..) that Nintendo games often lack. I'm not saying that Nintendo needs depth and maturity, there's nothing wrong with what they make, but the lack of these does not make their games any better either. And maybe, every once in a while, when the moon is full, and the stars are aligned, they put out a mediocre title, or even a flat-out bad game.

So much incorrect assumption here.

I do not have narrow interests or little exposure. I enjoy everything from FPS games to platformers to racers, and I've owned and enjoyed non-Nintendo consoles in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th gens.

And I yet I still hold that Nintendo make the best games in the industry bar none.
