Forums - Gaming Discussion - Seriously Why Doesn't Microsoft Just Buy Sony?

I'm sure Sony don't want to be bough

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Because Microsoft doesn't have the money to buy Sony.
In order to find out a company's worth you take their revenue times it by 3-4 and you get the company's worth, for Sony that's anywhere from $226B to $301B based on their most recent income statements.

According to Microsoft's most recent income statement they have $32B, Microsoft can't just borrow 7 to 9.4 times that.

Microsoft already has $82.6B in liabilities.

Sony are turning around anyway, it would be the worse thing for Microsoft to buy Sony, I don't know why anyone would want a company that is so Anti-Consumer and have mismanaged the likes of Rare so much to have total control over the biggest company in Console game history.
Unless Microsoft were going to get rid of Xbox and leave Sony to manage the console games part of their business it would be the worse thing that could happen to the games industry.

Wait what? was Toast Smeaged forever?

Aple would have to want Sony. Why would Sony chose Apple over Microsoft? Don't act like they're rivals (MS and Sny) because really, they're not. Actually MS and Sony are more a match than Apple and Sony.

But this will never happen. If wanted to win the console war by spending $18b all they would have to do is buy taketwo, EA, Activision ect ect and end it.

Not sure that's entirely accurate.  I'm sure Apple would love to have rights to Sony's Music/Movie/TV stables, and if Apple's actually serious about getting into the games market, they have a pretty large selection of in-house studios.  Microsoft, on the other hand, is mainly a software company.  They have little to no content, and not much by way of hardware.

Neither Microsoft or Apple, appear to be interested in TV's,  or Cameras, let alone Banking/Insurance, though.

I'm guessing because they don't think it's worth the investment and trying to save the company.

Cough Cough...

Sony as a whole is about as big as MS, not that it would be impossible, but this is quite unlikely.

As far as workers, sure, I think Sony's actually bigger in that regard (though with their restructuring that may be different now).  As far as money, no way, pretty sure Microsoft stomps a mudhole in Sony for the amount of money they deal with.

Maybe because they cant? Sonys owners wont let this happen and neither its allowed according to Japanese law for a foreign company buying something without allowance from the japanese company. Where does also MS has the money? Their revenue is 90 billion $ vs sonys 60 billion, once the FED stops printing money you will see where MS and other overvalued american company's really are.

How the hell did I not notice this thread up until now?!!

I would actually like Nintendo and Sony to merge. That would be a great gaming company that caters for all. And no amount of MS money would ever topple that pairing together.
