So... Create a forum that about 5 users could access?

I'm pretty sure that number is much closer to 100 than to 5.

And it could have the potential to grow.

Everybody would slip up at some stage tho, there are often posts on here from people made at times when they're either having a drink or just being a bit angry at something IRL, you can see it quite easily in some posts if someone is having a rough day.

Couldn't really expect anyone to make 3k without at least calling someone a numbnuts once when they're acting like it hah, sometimes people can just be baited by pure stupid posters into calling out the stupid poster instead of reporting, then the ban falls on the guy trying to 1up the stupid person.

Just saying with your criterea... it would be a rather quite area of the forum I would imagine.

As soon as the behaviour wouldn't result in a ban, it would be ok-ish.

@ soleron

that section 8 was what I'm talking about or was it only for website mods and admins ?

I do legit think that such an area would simply be too scant of people to ever justify its existance or else would lead to people spamming junk in every thread that was made just to up their post count to try to "be good".

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

No offense but that suggestion is horrible, segregating a public forum, really? A person should not be excluded from the "good" discussions because they are new to the website, or they don't post enough, or because they got banned once who knows how long ago.

Section 8

Pshh... Section 0 is cooler!

Now, someone needs to tell me how to make a thread there!

Posting appears to work.

What happens when you just press New Topic?

Like trainning a dog: is easier to get him to do tricks by throwing him a bone, than it is to get him to do the same by beating it.

I say that a section should be created in the forums that is locked for posting to everyone else but the users who've got great behavior that promote the civility of the website.

It could be a combination of:

- post count (I don't know, 3000 posts ?)

- moderation history: no bans on record

- user account active for at least 6 months

- moderator/admins decision on accepting a new batch of "well behaved users" to join the exclusive forums.

I think inside such exclusive forums moderation wouldn't even be necessary, because the people posting deserve to be there. Other users could still navigate through it to see what kinds of discussion a thread clean of problems would bring, and set the example for the community.

Can I request such thing, please ? Is it to hard to code into the vgchartz structure ?

I think I'd qualify for this rather exclusive club but even I don't think it's a good idea.

Firstly acting like a human being on the forums should be expected, normal behaviour i.e. something you are supposed to do, not something that needs to be rewarded.

Secondly, the occasional ban never hurt anyone but is necessary from time to time ot make people pull their heads in.  Many long time, quality posters have a few bans under their belts and I wouldn't want them excluded from any discussion because of an occasional slip up.  I've even seen new users who hit this website with a little too much, let's say, enthusiasm, reform and become excellent contributors after being handed out a few bans and learning what is and isn't acceptable around here.

Also, as has already been alluded to, having an exclusionary policy that punishes new users simply isn't fair.

Finally I don't think the 'reward' for belonging to such a club would be sufficient to motivate people to avoid bans, an exclusive club needs to have a hook, something cool like free booze or cigars, not sure how that would work here.

What you would have is an area where friends of the mods and a certain fan base are able to post all to themselves.

This would never work because some mod make up their own rules to ban those they do not like while others twist them to justify banning people they do not like.

We need good competent mods who follow the rules and don't show bias before we start letting them reward their friends only with special perks. Like how some of them can insult users, troll, etc and the only people that get banned are those that stand up to the trolls

There is a thread for mod criticism and it's supposed to be kept in that thread no matter how... creative the criticism is.
