Forums - Sales - Best Buy PR: “We’ve Sold Many More PS4's Than Xbox One’s”

This evening iGR covered Best Buy‘s Ultimate Gamers Showdown, Madden 25 tournament. I had the opportunity to speak to SonyXbox, and more importantly, Best Buy PR while spectating the tourney. While company policy prohibits stating exact sales figures of any product, I was given a general statement as to which next-gen console is currently selling better at Best Buy. On-site members of Best Buy’s Senior PR team stated, “We’ve sold many more PS4s than Xbox One’s.” The staff also noted, “Both products are selling extremely well.” This being Best Buy’s flagship store in Richfield, MN, less than a mile from corporate headquarters; I take these numbers as a general trend of nationwide sales thus far.

That fact was driven home by the sheer amount of next-gen stock that Best Buy had on-hand. The retailer had nine PS4 units (two of which purchased moments later) and over thirty Xbox One consoles in-stock. Another surprising revelation was that the Madden 25 tournament was being played exclusively on PS4 hardware. And yes, before another “There’s PS4′s in-stock” article is printed; PS4s and Xbox One’s were both available at Best Buy.

The fact remains that both consoles have sold over two million units since they launched. But Best Buy was just one stop I made tonight. I also visited my local GameStop before heading home. The CSR working when I arrived pretty much mirrored the statements from Best Buy saying, “We don’t have any PS4′s for sale right now, but we have about 25 Xbox One’s.” The rep added, “I get calls everyday from customers looking for PS4′s.”

In the end both Sony and Microsoft have enjoyed stellar console launches. How things stack up long-term remains to be seen.

Yes. I think Besy Buy is much more neutral than Microsoft or Sony for that matter.

This is ture NPD confirms

No shock here, just a pity Sony haven't a few more ps4s available, but I'm sure on Sunday there will be a lot of new owners. It's good xbox one is selling decent too, after all when it's a bit cheaper and Halo 5 appears I might get one since I've done the others and wish to see thru the story.

Proud owner of Ps4/3ds xl/pc/vita/wii u and others.

Man I just checked Bestbuy.com's bestsellers in videogames. Xbox One is in stock and on page 3....that's pretty sad. PS4 is sold out of course. Wanna know what's number 1? The Mario & Luigi Wii U bundle :P

PS4 really is having a great launch and the resale prices alone prove that it is in higher demand. Xbone is only going to clear the Wii U's 2012 total by 400-600k, and considering how much more they have clearly spent on marketing, thats not really that impressive. I don't think Xbone will drop to Wii U's 2013 levels but its going to be a similar situation.

The Mario Bundle at Gamestop.com is at #2 and has been in the top 8 for a week now and is currently sold out.  They just dropped the Skylanders bundle to $275 so I think gamestop really wants rid of them to make room for the Mario Bundles.   Target.com is sold out of all 3 and BestBuy.com is sold out of every console except for the Mario one.   Wii U is going to have a really solid December, and if all it took was 1 Mario Game and 1 good bundle, then its pretty clear to me that once everything else is out, it is going to sell much better.

even ps4 in stock there, seems to be great to be the store so close to the headquarter.

Good for BB, seems the Sony supply issues is only for Amazon, WalMart, Target and Game Stop.

Edit: just read the full article. BB has problems with supply also. For the price alone Sony could have wiped out XOne this Hollydays in US.
