Forums - Gaming Discussion - So who WON the Black Friday Week????

Which of the Major 4?

Nintendo 368 64.45%

Microsoft 80 14.01%

Ouya 33 5.78%

Sony 90 15.76%

Total:571

X1 performed very well, but nintendo just wins due to respectable wii u numbers.

Nobody Won

  • Nintendo is the closest to being a winner, with the phenomenal sales of the 3DS, but it's not like the 3DS broke any records. Black Friday Week in 2007, the DS sold over 1.3 million units. So the 3DS is, IMO, merely doing adequately. The Wii U, meanwhile, is still performing worse than it should. Better than previously, but 270,000 on Black Friday Week is only a bit over half of what I had hoped for a month or two ago, when the system started picking up momentum. For context, in 2007, the ailing PS3 sold over 370,000 units of hardware.
  • Sony is a bit behind Nintendo, thanks to the high PS4 numbers from the European launch. The thing is, be it due to supply issues or any other reason, the system failed to break 200,000 in the Americas, and of course isn't out in Japan yet. The PS3 is plummeting almost a la the Wii did last year, and it only did well in America. As for the Vita... it was outsold by the freakin Wii. Vita's 2013 Black Friday numbers are under half of the PSP's in 2007.
  • Microsoft, unless you focus on America, is the clear loser. Neither of their two systems reached half a million units sold.

Love and tolerate.

Unless 3DS is overtracked by 400k, it doesn't even matter whether it's over or not. Those sales are massive. The DS sure didn't hit 700k in the US for Black Friday in 06 or 07.

holy shit! seriously!?

(probably inflated with 2DS)

This statement isn't even needed. The 2DS is, after all, a part of the 3DS family. It's just the runt of the litter.

Both Sony platforms above both Xbox platforms. Amazing.

360 above One is surprising to me.

Well done 3DS, Sony, try harder MS.

with a good boost with the help of 2ds :) better?

If your are talking Black Friday week then I can only comment on US numbers since Black Friday is a US event. With that in mind I have to say MS won. Continued good sales of 360 and it looks like they were able to replenish stock in US for Black Friday. Cant seriously give the win to Nintendo because a good part of their business is in bad shape. Home console sales for Nintendo are just plain bad and no way to say otherwise.

As for Sony the focus was on Europe launch and overall of course worldwide Sony won the week. If they hadnt it would have been shocking.

Now over the next couple of weeks things will be much more interesting with no special events. Just who can deliver constant supply for the remainder of the holiday. Then where do sales settle when X1 and PS4 are both readily available on store shelves.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Nintendo by far. Massive week for the 3ds and one of the best weeks ever for the Wii U. And some last but nice Wii sales.

Sony was constrained by supply and the vita was a flop. MS did ok but nothing too impresive.
