It would just confirm that we are surrounded by mouth breathing dude bros over here in the US. They aren't gamers, just UFC/NFL/COD players that think their testicles will fall off if they are caught by their friends playing anything that looks "kiddy" like a Mario or Zelda game.

What makes COD,Halo,NFL and Gears fans any less valid than us? Playing Resogun for 8 hours is no different than playing COD for 8 hours. A game is a game. Just because you don't like their types of games, doesn't make them invalid. Don't be angry because more people play AAA FPS online than games like Journey. Just enjoy what you enjoy and carry on. It's a waste of time hating people like that imo.

In theory.
Except you can't avoid it when it's so financially lucrative. It's a valid concern when the mainstream success of those games spills over into other developers and franchises hoping to cash in. Resident Evil and Final Fantasy for example are two franchises that were destroyed by their devs hoping to get a piece of the Call of Duty pie.
I was fortunate enough to be around during the golden days of SNES and PS1 so it REALLY hurts to see what has happened to gaming once it went mainstream and games were directed by investors and quarterly statements instead of gamers and game developers.
Those people buying COD every time it comes out are directly responsible for driving the direction of the market and for MY beloved franchises and genres being nearly wiped out this generation.
Every time I hear some frat boy in line drooling over another photorealistic military shooter saying "yo that sheeit is mad tyte dog" it reminds me why there aren't any RPG/adventure/platformers anymore, so they can go die in a fire.
