Forums - Gaming Discussion - Biggest online meltdowns in videogame history? [Video complete- thanks for the help!]

Nintendo selling stock back to RARE and them MS buying 100% of RARE stock. Many of you are probably too young to recall the full brunt of that one, especially given how young the Internet itself was at the time (no YouTube, no Facebook, no Twitter, not even Myspace yet) but it was huge.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

The reveal trailer for the last SSX deserves some mention. What should have been cause for celebration ended up pissing of a lot of people.

FFXIII

I thought hundreds of devoted Sony fanboys commit suicide that e3 day.

wii and ds victory last gen, bayonetta 2.

There was the success of the Wii compared to the PS360 up through 2010. It was a pretty long and slow meltdown, but it went on for YEARS. To this day, there are people who insist that the Wii lost the 7th generation.

Love and tolerate.

People are still angry over that one, myself included

For me it was Tekken 6 going multiplat. Tekken 3 was key title in playstation history, so was 5 on the ps2 (and dark resurrection on the psp). That and Final Fantasy XIII were totally unexpected announcements. I still remember going to stores and hearing people saying that there is no longer a reason to buy a ps3 as every game is going multiplat. At that point I thought ps brand was over (as in its identity was gone for good).

The Bayonetta 2 fiasco was really bad. I remember some guy starting a site designed solely to encourage consumers to buy a used Wii U and a used copy of Bayonetta so neither Nintendo nor Platinum saw a single cent for their treasonous actions.

If he wants to be a real dick he should buy a WiiU new and bayonetta 2 used. So nintendo loses money. Only works if WiiU is still sold at a loss though

I think that the Bayonetta meltdown was nowhere near that of FF. FF is a mainstream game with huge sales, while Bay still a niche game with a very specific audience (I would personally be embarrassed to play it in front of friends).
