I ask this simply because i believe that the technolgy in these consoles, especially the PS3, will be around alot longer than say PS2 technology ever was. Even though they are more expensive i think that people will buy them because in this generation they are seen by many people not just as gaming consoles but as multimedia machines, just like the DVD player was seen as a multimedia machine, who didn't have a DVD player?

 Anyway what are your thoughts?

I don´t think both have any chance of reaching 100mil, not a hindus chance in heaven... they aren´t cheap enough, aren´t future proof (nothing is), won´t be used as multimedia centres since there are better/cheaper options there.

What made the PS2 so futureproof ??? Not the tech inside the box or the pricetag (eventhough it helped) it was the games... no non winning console will ever get that many good games over that long of a timespan... only the Wii has a chance (a very good one) to reaching 100mil.

I honestly think both could do it, but I dont think XBOX will ever produce 100 mil as the 720 will be out before then. I think if PS3 is around for 8 or so years it may make 100 mil, even with the strong competition XBOX gives it.

360 - No, I don't think so.

MS are too impatient on all markets, they proved this over and over (latest proof: Yahoo).

PS3 - Yes, I think it's possible.

Sony are very patient in the videogame market, we've seen this with their first two consoles. Furthermore BluRay has no competitor at the moment (except DVD of course) and the HD market is growing rapidly (now also in Europe). Some upcoming games will help, as well.

I don't really think that any of the three consoles has a shot at 100 million.

I doubt it for both.

Neither, only Wii has a chance of hitting that number.

I'm almost positive the PS3 will hit 100 mil consoles sold.
