Wii won, games(IMO) and sales wise(not debatable).

Yeah. No. Wii won. Because it sold 20 million more systems. Or at least Wii's still winning, even if it scored most of its goals in the first half. Game isn't technically over, but we're definitely at the end of the fourth quarter and I can't imagine much is going to change. Okay, sports analogy over.

Even if PS3 does eventually pass up Wii (which I find unlikely) it will do so only by virtue of Sony's continuing to keep the thing on the market after the generation was over, and at a price that's far below what they were originally trying to sell it for. Wii's early success - when at its most expensive, thus maximizing Nintendo's profits - ensures its victory. 

PS3 gets the silver medal, but not the gold.

Well, Wii definately won, but if it feels better, the OP can have the win against MS, since that was always such a big issue obviously :).

I agree with the sales, not even close in games imo. But it sure is funny to see certain posters to go in full defense or attack mode over an artivle, really sad axtually.

op?? Op is not the one saying it, he linked to an article in which there is also going to be a Why wii won and why 360 won...people read before posting.

Hopefully for sony's sake they do more then just "win" this generation like they "did" the last time lol if they "win" this generation like they did the last, we might not get to see a ps5.

I didn´t read most of it but i think i got the point of the article.
Although it`s admirable what Sony did with the PS3 and how it can still maintain high sales going into PS4, it`s no less true that, on the business side, i doubt (don`t have numbers to prove anything) PS3 can be called a success.

Had this generation go the same 5 years as the other generations have gone and things could have been a lot worse for PS3/Sony (MS included).
Despite the years in profits, there were also a lot of years in the red and businesswise, that`s not good.
Not to mention, it lost it`s dominance in the market.
Other thing to notice is that despite all the new IP, how many did reach system seller status and become future system sellers?

if it wasnt for the head start xbox got, ps3 would have always been ahead....at a higher price point.
wii couldnt even last the whole generation before nintendo took it out its misery and discontinued it so i dont see how thats anywhere near being a winner. they cant take all the sales during their good times and then call the end of the generation when they slump, thats what losers do.

in terms of games I think it goes 1) Sony 2)nintendo 3)MS

MS looked like they had so many exclusives and then 1 by 1 they went to ps3. wouldnt be surprised of XBone ends up the same.
