"Nintendo has told MCVUK that sales for the Wii U in the UK has increased 685 percent for the week ending October 5. The increase in sales is due to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, as well as a price cut.

This is a good sign for the console which has struggled all year. The Wii U sold just 1,268 units the week beforeWind Waker HD, according to VGChartz. That would put last weeks sale at 8,685 units.

Nintendo has several games that will be released later this year that will help keep sales up. Super Mario 3D World, Sonic Lost World, Wii Fit U, and Wii Party U."

 

Can we just take a moment to appreciate this? Some people may say "derpa derpa derpa it's still less than 10k" but I don't care. That is a HUGE increase from zelda with the pricedrop for one country.

It's not huge though is it?? It puts its on par with PS360, and that's if the VGC figures were spot on anyway, from data we've had in the past we've seen WiiU has been overtrakced in the UK.

"derpa derpa derpa" haha. I think that 8k is a decent number for the UK. It's the average sales of the best consoles selling in the region in regular sales periods (not like during the launch of GTAV).

I know it's only the UK, I can read the title! I'm talking soley about the UK, and I don't think it's impressive. These are sales WiiU should have been surpassing all year ... not on the back of a price cut and big game.

That's a good start. I think the other bundles Nintendo is doing will be bigger factors in moving hardware.

Interesting. Wonder what the sales in Germany will be considering Zelda is much more popular there.

Maybe it's not THAT big, but for a Remake, it IS big. Especially UK-market wasn't very good for Wii U.
