Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Konami games don´t sell well on the 3DS?

I was checking out the 3DS charts and noticed that there´s no Konami game among the 50 3ds best sellers.

So far:

PES 2011 - 340k

Dragon Ball Heroes - 250k

MGS: Snake Eater - 240k

PES 2012 -???

PES 2013 -  110k

Magician´s Quest - 170k

Frogger 3d -140k

Dr. Lautrec - 100k

Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate - 90k

Let´s ignore PES 2011, which was a launch game and games released only in Japan. Unlike Capcom, Square Enix, Sega, Namco (who had some sucessfull games selling more than 500k) it seems that Konami really can´t please 3DS owners, even with solid efforts like Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania. Why is that?

it´s interesting to notice that many konami games were only launched in Japan, and they sold reasonably well in that market, but the games with worldwide releases had dissapointing sales... maybe konami really can´t please western 3ds audiences at all or don´t understand what they really want to play.

Well at least they're making games for the 3DS while we are still waiting for Zone of Enders HD collection on the vita.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Snake Eater was released after the HD collection, the PES not particularly popular on any platform, least of all Nintendo handhelds due to Sports fans liking big screens. Frogger 3D and Lautrec were critical bombs, and Castlevania, in addition to not being well received and part of a subseries never before on a Nintendo platform, had an HD port announced about 4 months later.

Looking at those games, it's not hard to see why... I don't think MGS3 was "solid" (pun slightly intended) especially with how close it released to the HD Collections. It was kind of a ripoff, honestly.

Sad that Konami is basically a MGS/PES factory these days.

Castlevania would have sold if Konami itself would have developed it. They should stick to doing Metroidvania games and stop giving the franchise to MercurySteam.

This issue isn't exclusive to Konami.

I always thought that MGS aside, Konamis is by far the weakest of the big publishers out there. Their games don't interest me at all and all the games you listed are no exception. I'm not surprised that most 3DS owner think the same way I do. And this is even more true for their games on 3DS, shovelwares, lackluster games like Castlevania and a port of a old game right after the other consoles got a HD collection...
