This guys reeks of desperation..

• 18 CU's vs. 12 CU's =/= 50% more performance. Multi-core processors have inherent inefficiency with more CU's, so it's simply incorrect to say 50% more GPU.

Sorry, you lost all credibility with this line.

CPU's and GPU's process information completely differently.

he went full out insane last night on GaF. he then started asking for users to say sorry to him if 3rd party games dont have a big difference visually when the consoles launch. regarding your credibility comment here is what he said.

We are lucky to have a small handful working on Xbox.

I've spent several hours over the last few weeks with the Technical Fellow working on our graphics engines. He was also one of the guys that worked most closely with the silicon team developing the actual architecture of our machine, and knows how and why it works better than anyone.

So while I appreciate the technical acumen of folks on this board - you should know that every single thing I posted, I reviewed with him for accuracy. I wanted to make sure I was stating things factually, and accurately.

So if you're saying you can't add bandwidth - you can. If you want to dispute that ESRAM has simultaneous read/write cycles - it does.

I know this forum demands accuracy, which is why I fact checked my points with a guy who helped design the machine.

This is the same guy, by the way, that jumps on a plane when developers want more detail and hands-on review of code and how to extract the maximum performance from our box. He has heard first-hand from developers exactly how our boxes compare, which has only proven our belief that they are nearly the same in real-world situations. If he wasn't coming back smiling, I certainly wouldn't be so bullish dismissing these claims.

I'm going to take his word (we just spoke this AM, so his data is about as fresh as possible) versus statements by developers speaking anonymously, and also potentially from several months ago before we had stable drivers and development environments.

In that sentence, doesn't he mean "multi-core processors" as in "a GPU with multiple compute units"? He isn't talking about CPU cores.

No need to get personal. Just let him post what he wants. If you want to argue with his points, do so, but stop just attacking.

I have a honest question about the memory bandwidth that I hope someone can answer.

When will the Xbox One use both memories at the same time for the same thing? Let me explain

The way I see it, the console will read the BluRay Disc/HDD, get some data and "store" it to the 8GB of DDR3 RAM and/or the ESRAM. We have the GPU/CPU that can "talk" with the ESRAM at 204 gb/s and can "talk" with the DDR3 RAM at 68gb/s.

My question is in which cases the data needed to perform "X" calculation will be stored on both RAMs and be read at the same time? Won't the CPU/GPU work with each one of the RAM pools individually for each calculation most of the time and therefore work at either 68 or 204 gb/s?

As I said, it's a honest question so please don't try to spin it.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

LOL epic comeback

If they were actually confident they wouldn't need to continually make defensive posts about their box. And honestly, I have no idea why they are - XBO games speak for themselves.

All this paper analysis is kinda moot at this point.

NeoGaf is handy for news, but the community are bunch of immature pricks so i don't know he even bothers replying to any of them.
