That would be the ideal, unfortunately people seem to being moving in the direction of having NO common sense.
So where common sense dictates that Jay walking could put you at a higher risk of getting run over when compared to crossing at the pedestrian lights, peoples lack of common sense instead makes them jay walk, this has lead to laws being put in place to protect people from themselves.
To be honest, it's a sad state of affairs cause we seem to be heading in the direction of the movie Idiocracy

what happens when stupid ppl get protection from stupidity? they breed stupidity.
:) taxing our poor decisions or 'idiot proofing' is a lose/lose situation. Unless you're a politician.
The means he used were not appropriate imo. Instead of hitting her in the face he should have used pepperspray or a baton to the leg.
Also how the fuck can't this cop arrest a female for two minutes? He may be trying not to use extensive force but the outcome is only worse, he's yanking her all over the place, tearing her cloths it looks very unprofessional.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!

They jaywalked. He called them over, and they blew him off and tried to walk away. He goes over and drags the older girl back. She throws a fit, and he decides to put her in cuffs. Then her friend comes in and starts grabbing at him.
I remind you, police officers carry guns. If you start grabbing at someone who has a gun, when he's already dealing with someone acting aggressively, being punched in the face is probably the best case scenario.
And no, the role of government isn't to protect us from ourselves. It's to protect us from each other.
I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

it is sad isn't it...
you must know why we're getting stupid, it from over protection. Govt. taking on every role including parent and teacher. If you watch politicians you know Govt. doesn't do anything successfully. So why do we give it these roles. The Dept. of Education was started in 1980. Government education is full of fail. I love idiocracy btw awesome movie!!

I've seen videos of a cop tazing a woman for speeding and she wasn't black. Cops today are just overly aggressive.
