Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Zelda Wind Waker Wii U finally get people to give this game the attention and sales it deserves?

Cant see it doing more than 2 mil lifetime. Wich isnt bad at all, since thats what the Ocarina 3D sold in relation to the N64 version.

The main reason for this is also that we will get a new mainline title in about 1.5 to 2 years.

Wii U will need to pick up momentum first, and I think Wind Waker HD can help with this. I think the game will definately get more attention. Sales would probably be poor at first, then during the course of a year or so, it should sell more than the original on GC. It could take 2 years. That's my prediction.

Oh please. The majority of ppl who hail WW as the greatest zelda sliced bread ever only probably started playing the zelda series with that game.

What a leap in logic that is. -__-

I started playing the series with the original in 1987 and hgave played all the console games and most of the handheld ones. And Wind Waker is my favourite game, second only to ALttP.

For the sake of the Wii U I hope it does well enough to push a few consoles.

I also desperately hope Nintendo uses it to get toon Zelda out of it's system so they can do the sensible thing and make a darker style for Wii U's ground-up Zelda.

One of the best huh? Well, to be honest, I did enjoy WW more than OoT......

But WW original sold very well considering the console base size. Though Wii U will likely sell more than GameCube, I doubt WWHD will sell more than the original. Obviously the fans will likely buy it, but there are also lesser fans (included in the total) who are probably like "ehh, I already played it, why play it again?". There might even be newcomers, so it may have a chance. I'll get it because I liked the game and would love to see it in 1080p on my TV (yes, I'm well aware of dolphin playing the game in 1080p, but that doesn't have graphical enhancements! )

I already played it.
I really enjoyed, very very much, i think every player in the world would try.
Makes me feel part of a great epic adventure, feel smarter, feel the own pirate!
Is a masterpiece of gaming, no doubt!

I would get, but I still dont have money to get wii U, a game I already played, and that I can play when I want in my GC. So it has the lowest priority.

Other thing.
For me WW is a much better game than TP, but people like TP more.
I was wandering if TP was released in WW date, and WW was released in TP date.
I think TP would had push GC much more, every person who played OoT would buy, and it could pass 8 mil copies, and selling more 4 mil GCs. Also the zelda fanbase would be bigger, and WW would had sold more at the end.
And this new HD remake would be from TP rather than WW, and maybe the hype would be greater than WW's.

Yes. I actually did a small survey with that on this very site many years ago that gave some credability to that statement. I did say "majority", not all.

And yes, ALttP is legendary.

4.6m is very good. Not to dismiss the game, but knowing it was rushed and the difficulty was setting down after OoT/MM, those are more than deserved sales. SS on the other hand, deserves at least to reach this milestone.

As a side-note, I personally remain convinced that VGC has this game heavily undertracked. It's over 4m for sure. Nintendo revealed sales (okay, shipments) of 3.42m as of December 2011, a mere month after release. VGC already had it almost a million under that number at that time, there's just no way it only sold 3.68m now after all this time, nearly two years later. If only Nintendo had revealed new numbers in their latest reports...

And I agree, Skyward Sword was more than deserving of reaching Wind Waker area sales, more-so than Wind Waker itself actually if I had to choose... Well... actually, if I could choose, all of them would have sold over 10m .

I love this game, but I don't see the remake selling more than the original. It'll still introduce some new players to the Zelda series, I hope.
