I like how those guys seem to think that the VGC numbers aren't accurate enough for their brilliant analysis while they obviously don't get even the most simple things about sales-age. Simple concepts like comparative installed bases or killer apps seem for example over their comprehension each time they speak about the actual situation of the WiiU. Reading the amount of stupid hate this console is getting there and lack of any strong understanding of this market on that forum is pretty blattant at this point. I think these message boards have been incredibly overrated for way too long as most comments there, are now mediocre at best and often pure trolling as the moderation seems to be more and more inexistant.

I don't know the thread you're talking about but I think it's an amazing forum. They do get a little passionate sometimes, but that's every forum ever, including this one. Many important people post on that forum, larger number still are readers.

Well VGchartz numbers aren't really accurate. Tis true.

They undertracked DS software by a whopping 200million.

The forum has a large amount of visibility in the gaming industry and press.

The value of the industry and press, and the effect their messaging has, is vastly overstated.

1. Nintendo is completely disconnected from all that
2. The game companies are going to do what they want to do anyway. The PR is all one way to convince the hardcore to buy games.
3. The press have no effect on game design or sales.

NeoGAF in general is a joke except they sometimes provide useful information.

"Killer app" is a highly subjective term.

Fanboys tend to throw that term around like candy a bit too much. In reality the amount of games that actually move hardware individually are very rare.
