The value of the industry and press, and the effect their messaging has, is vastly overstated.

1. Nintendo is completely disconnected from all that
2. The game companies are going to do what they want to do anyway. The PR is all one way to convince the hardcore to buy games.
3. The press have no effect on game design or sales.
