Forums - Sony Discussion - God Eater 2 Overtakes Monster Hunter 4 on Amazon Japan’s Best Sellers, Did The Vita Find its Killer Application?

Simple answer. MH4 is far longer up for pre orders and a lot of people already did theirs months ago.

Also reading this thread some people say that they should port MH4 to PSV because it would mean extra sales. So my question, why don´t we have the same users making this excuse for a 3DS port of God Eater 2. ;)

It's already multi-plat with PSP which is a larger userbase than 3DS.

^^Cant Disagree with that

Not an answer to Mon Hon but it definitely shows that the Vita will have decent titles and ultimately decent sales in Japan. It's still slower than what the PS3 was doing at the same time so that's not good...

Because by not having a Vita version, they're allowing other hunter games to build fanbases and market share.  Now if MonHon does got back to the Vita, it's possible that it might have lost customers to God Eater or Toukiden.  Sales are sales.  Because you sell 1M on one system doesn't mean 250k on another system is something to sneeze at.

Oh pokoko...

How different your argument would be, if Sony's and Nintendo's roles were reversed.

Not everyone is like you.

Besides, that's kind of a silly thing to say.  Of course my argument would be the same if the roles were reversed.  It would be a no-brainer that Capcom should have a version for the 3DS given how much larger the installed base is.  Really, that doesn't even make a lot of sense.  Did you think about that before you typed it?

The funny thing here is that you're calling me out, not because my argument is bad, but because--hell, I don't even know why.  Are you mad because I hurt the 3DS's feelings, even though I said nothing bad about it at all?   You felt you had to go strap your white knight armor on?  I don't get it.  I know you have some kind of immunity on this site for making off-topic, troll-ish comments but this is kind of childish.  If you disagree with my logic then tell me why I'm wrong, don't just drop some snarky, grade-school insult that can't be proven or disproven.  At least respect the topic somewhat.  This thread doesn't need to be going in this direction just because you want to make a personal attack.

No need to act dumb, you know very well that he is refering to the Wii U and not 3DS.

Wasn´t the argument the more the better? If that´s your excuse why don´t you suggest a PSP port of MH4 instead since it has a vastly superior userbase compared to PSV. 75m to 5m PSVs.

Well, GE 2 was a PSP exclusive first and foremost and porting it with the Vita is easy.

So why put it on the 3DS that has MH4 to compete with and spend more money porting it with few thousand sales?

As for the MH 4 IDC about that I am only arguing with your GE 2 post.

That´s easy. The userbase is vastly larger than PSVs, the Monster Hunter games actually brought fans of the genre to the system in big numbers (MHT which is a port already sold more than 2million units and is still selling, and with MH4 which is a new entry there´ll be even more fans of the genre on 3DS), another reason Japanese software sells quite well in US und Europe on 3DS, while PSP is completely irrelevant over there for some years now, and PSV doesn´t look that good either in the West.

Because obviously the post I responded to wasn´t making a reasonable argument regarding sales but simply port begging since for whatever reason he won´t buy anything elese than Sony systems.

Here's  the thing MH is not a game that can be only be played for 20 hours. It's a social game. It's like an MMO but with way smaller players. A lot of people will put massive hours on that game. If you release  GE 2 on 3DS, MH will cannibalize the sale of GE 2.  MH is a more popular game. We can't argue with that fact.

That's why I said on my first post in this thread that GE 2 has the potential to expand it's userbase with MH gone.

And west is irrelevant with games like GE. What makes you think GE 2 will sell great on 3DS? and it's a mute point because we aren't talking about the west.

@ your last paragraph

I am just stating fact on my initial post.

Then that would be stupid, as this is a discussion about the 3DS and Vita.  I mean, what are you even talking about?  If Monster Hunter came to the PS4 and not the Wii U?  I honestly don't know, as I have no clue how MonHon did on the Wii, nor what kind of competition it would have.

The whole point of my post was that Capcom might regret allowing franchises like God Eater and Toukiden to build themselves up before it comes to the Vita.  That people would take offense to that is crazy.

Who took offense to that?
