Yes, it was pretty disrespectful to boo Markman and Filthierich just because of dislike of Microsoft (from what I remember, the boos started roaring at the mention of the Xbox One), especially since both of these guys have been a part of the fighting game community for such a long time.

Killer Instinct was never a competitive fighting game at all... it was funny and enjoyable for many players... just not the pro fighters that is the main audience of EVO.

I'm sure if the pro fighter didn't support this game (and they won't) other players can enjoy this new release.
