Something I've always noticed on forums and YouTube is that exclusives are always the first to get praised regardless if they really deserve it or not.  Yet in real life it is usually the 3rd parties that are selling more.  All a part of the fan wars I suppose.

Anyways to my point.  If exclusives got swapped would they suddenly get praised by the people who was originally hating on them?  Also let's act like it was never an exclusive and it was just announced.  Let's use InFamous as an example.  If InFamous was just shown off and it was an X360 exclusive instead of a PS3 exclusive would the sony fans hate InFamous and now the Xbox fans love InFamous?

You can use any other game as an example if you want.  Alan Wake, Forza, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Gears of War, etc  Not really sure if I explained it well or not but I hope it is good enough to base some opinions on.

What I guess I am saying is, does something being exclusive automatically make you happy just because the competition doesn't get the game you can?

I don't know. The absurd Alan Wake Vs Heavy Rain would still be present EDIT: Ergo, downplaying in hate the each other's game.

Hard to answer. All I can say is that even an exclusive game won't be praised if it is bad. See Metroid Other M for example.

What is this most recent example that made you think of this? What example of "getting praised regardless if they really deserve it or not".

I'm dying to hear which exclusive it is that you think doesn't deserve praise, and fanboys are praising because they're fanboys. Let's hear it.

Quality sells.  Games that aren't good don't. (usually)

I am not saying that it means they are better games.  I am pointing out that some of the best games does not get praised online because they are not exclusive when in real life people could care less if they are exclusive or not.

"I think Mass Effect is garbage and rated so highly because it was an exclusive. The future games in the series aren't too much better, and the overrated games are overrated on the PS3 as wekk because it was once a highly praised exclusive series that we now have.

While there are a lot of good exclusives, I think there are a lot of games on all consoles that are praised just because they've exclusive. Here are some for Sony and Nintendo too.

Infamous 1. The first game was decent, but didn't deserve the praise it received from critics and fans. The second improved upon the first in literally every way and is deserving of the praise, though. Gameplay is pretty much the same, but the changes included made all the difference.

God of War while pretty, is my least favorite stylish action series. Even X Men Origins Wolverine is a better game in my opinion, but a series like God of War gets constant praise when you'll almost always be using square, square, triangle, or a long variation of the exact same move,plus R1 and Square, or on the original, R1 and X. Games that are highly deserving of this praise like Lords of Shadow, Dante's Inferno, and DMC DmC get overlooked for some reason or another and this series gets massive praise for being God of War.

Animal Crossing. Go around the entire town shake all the trees, find bugs flying around, stuff lying on the ground., then after you've done all you can, talk to one villager who asks you to talk to another villager, repeat. Five minutes of gameplay you constantly repeat. Every game follows this exact same formula and every game is massively praised. How is this fun?

Mario Kart. I hate this series. Playing normally the game penalizes you for being a good player. What's the point of being in first place when you'll get first just by staying in third or fourth?"

of course they would: the infamous vs. prototype/heavy rain vs. alan wake/Killzone vs. Halo/ Gears of War vs. Uncharted/ LBP vs Mario/ God of War vs Legend of Zelda threads would still happend, just the people hyping said exclusive would just be different.
