Greatly devalues the PS Eye for the entire Gen. If the main penalty for including it is only price parity with one of your competitors, not sure if that is worth it. Feels more like a lack of confidence in it's worth.

Is that so?

I think a good portion of multiplatform titles will have Kinect features, most of which should be available to PS4 Eye owners aswell. And most first party titles will make sure to include some Eye functionality anyway, so in my opinion there could be quite a lot of PS4Eye support due to the Kinect.

That's certainly possible.  I'd imagine that the same ones complaining about Kinect being forced on us will gladly go purchase a PS Eye at that point and preach about it's value, completely missing the hypocritical irony (see PS+ mp requirement response) ...

That's a lot of maybes and assumptions to make your complaint fit your agenda.

Smart decision, but nobody will buy a PS Eye now. If Sony wanted to sell it as a seperate device then they should have made it as powerful as the Kinect 2.0.

They've always given people the choice. I think the article is bullshit because Sony has never forced the eyetoy in any of their Playstations for two generations now. This would be the third and they still haven't really sold it to the audience.

if the camera cost $60 how the hell the cost of the console would have been $500? At most I see it costing $450 as it is being bundled.

I wish it was $400 or even $450. It's $550 AUD here. D:
I actually decided it's worth the extra $50 just to go the Xbox One where the exclusive games are better suited for me personally anyway. (Killer Instinct, Halo, Fable with a sprinkle of Gears.)

But that Australia tax, my god, pity we don't get anything that's even remotely worth the extra $150, including the PS eye, it might have made the machine more enticing, perhaps when it's cheap in several years time.

I really dont see how a camera makes the system more enticing; but is your choice.   So, if you prefer the XBO good for you, even though I dont see anything appealing in it.   I guess you won a 360 too.

So are you saying for the extra $150 I should get nothing instead? I want more value for my money is what I'm saying, including the camera for that Extra $150 premium would at-least be *something* and at-least bring the PS3 on feature parity (Motion controls) with the Xbox One.

Also, if you are implying I'm an Xbox fanboy with that last part of your comment, please do look at my sig for my primary gaming platform of choice, I dislike all consoles equally.

For the core Sony fanbase, this news means little to nothing to them (at least it doesn't for now), but for the success of the PS4 as a marketed next generation console, statistically, this is potentially bad news for the company (not significantly bad though, just missing out on potential cash).

The fact of the matter is, motion control games, when done right, are fun and do sell extremely well. When Microsoft saw the success Wii Sports and a bunch of other motion control based games had, they quickly jumped on board with Kinect and made Kinect Adventures which, while falling short of actually offering a lot of replay value, is currently the best selling Xbox 360 game and is the 18th best selling game of all time on a single platform. Now that Kinect 2.0 is bundled in with every Xbox One, Microsoft can now expect quality software support of Kinect 2.0 on the Xbox One which will give the console a significant lead in both value (which turns into sales) over the PS4 because it will actually have unique next-generation features like the Wii U ultimately leaving the PS4 in the dust as the console not only currently sporting the least amount of exclusives, but also the console with the least amount of next-generation features.
I could really see consumers going for a Wii U and Xbox One this generation as the PS4 is nearly indistinguishable from current generation at the moment. It's not hard to see consumers thinking in a way for going with the cheapest next-generation console and/or the most expensive next generation console that at least lives up to its value. Now of course anything could happen, but with Xbox One being consumer friendly now (More so than the PS4 actually), I'm going to have to revise my initial prediction of the generation going to PS4 and Wii U and instead predict that this generation could easily go Xbox One and Wii U, but not by that much. I'm more seeing a scenario with Xbox One and PS4 battling it out (Xbox One perhaps winning) with Wii U sneaking its way to the top.

True, but if Sony wanted to attract the casuals MS is targetting with the Kinect 2.0, then they should have made the PS Eye as impressive as the Kinect.

You are divorced from reality, bro. The probability of this tends to zero, not even x1 winning ps4, but wii u winning this gen.
