Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are Sony fans worried about XB1's 15 exclusives?

So, MS has announced that they have 15 first party exclusives in the works for the X1's first year on the market. 8 of these will be new IPs. That's fantastic news. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, everyone here seems to be deflecting this statement whenever it's brought up, with something along the lines of "lolz....they'll all be shitty kinect games!"

So to the people saying this, be honest......you're worried. Sony fanboys have always been on about how the PlayStation has so many more exclusives than Xbox, and will often hype them to death, even if they are of mediocre quality. Starhawk, Twisted Metal, and PlayStation All Stars come to mind. With so many new titles in the works, and Microsoft's investment in building new dedicated studios with top personnel, they have the ability to potentially leave Sony in the dust in terms of quality exclusives.

I look at what Sony has announced so far this year, and I honestly have to ask myself what they're thinking. Killzone, and Infamous are declining franchises, sales data here backs this up, yet these are the games they prepare for PS4 launch? Makes no sense. Gran Tourismo is Sony's biggest system seller, and yet they plan to release the new game on PS3 instead of making it a PS4 exclusive launch title? Just not smart.

Now MS hasn't made, or published too many different AAA games this gen. There's pretty much Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza, Alan Wake, and Crackdown that I can think of, top of my head. I'm not counting things they published that went multiplat later. Now, of those 6 games I mentioned, 4 are big sellers, one is a cult hit, and the other has done moderately well, but disappointed last time out. So 5/6 games that MS backed strongly have gone on to become big hits. That's a damn good ratio. If even just half of the 15 games MS has in the oven for X1 are core titles, and not the "kinect crap" so many of you wish them to be, Sony will likely be severely outclassed with their first party content, because while Sony tries their hand at a lot of games, not many of them ever really take off.

I predict a lot of fanboys will be shedding some serious tears after E3

I would have taken this post seriously but this is just BULLSHIT. You mentioned 3 games : TM, PASBR and SH. Yeah, those games where sub-par and weak compared to WHAT SONY HIGH STANDARD OF  QUALITY IS, and yet they are 75+ metascore games (never mind sales, we don't play with sales). Now you say "not many take off"?  what a load of bull. Why don't you list the sales of Too Human, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, many Kinect games, Banjo, and the rest of the Xbox lackluster titles that struggle to either get good scores or sales? You should be reported for this thread, and banned.

A good portion of those "15" exclusive will:

b) Be indie games published by microsoft.

And what's the problem? Isn't it said that indie's nowadays are better than AAA games?

Halo and forza make up aboutan 15% of those titles and i dont give a shit about them

Why don't you list [...] Alan Wake

Don't mess with Alan Wake! It finally found it's deserves sales (I'm speaking 360-sales wise) and it scored +80 in Metacritic!

But yeah.

no...but I am curious

me personally; I am into RPG's(mainly JRPG's) and it doesn't feel like MS will go for the JRPG push they did with the 360 after the lukewarm reception that it got this gen.

though I'm sure they'll definitetly have some shockers this E3

Yes im Worried Microsoft might actually give me a reason to buy the thing other than not having to press input on my tv remote.

This. I don't find the chance to play enough as it is to really even rationalize buying a PS4 because of the sheer number of PS3 games and Steam games I have to play. Then there's the 5-10 Wii games I need to play. And I'm going to end up buying a 360 at some point to play Halo, Gears, and Fable.

Another thing is I'm not willing to pay to play online on my secondary console. I'd be fine paying if it was my primary console but that spot is reserved for Playstation as they have had more of the games I prefer than the other consoles. But paying to play online (which isn't even my focus as a gamer, I'm more of a single player fan) on a secondary console that I would only get the exclusives on just doesn't make any sense.

I'll take Faster Than Light over that horrible Star Trek game anyday.

What exactly is MS bringing to One at launch? Sony has Knack, Drive Club, inFamous and Killzone already announced with more ready for E3. Counting digital games, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony releases more than 15 exclusives in PS4's first year.

All Sony really has to show me is FF versus and I could care less what else they show anyway.

Doesn't that in itself tell you you probably aren't the best person to be trying to compare the two lineups?

Who is the best person to compare line ups? Probably nobody

I play pretty much every genre of game, and very little will get me excited more at the start of a new generation than a bunch of cool new IPs, but there are certain games that would always get me hyped more, and become a priority for me.

FF13 Versus happens to be one of those games. So ya, if Sony has that as an exclusive, and ACTUALLY RELEASING, I could disregard the rest of the line up. Just like if MS said Jade Empire 2 was launching exclusive I could happily disregard the rest of that line up.

Doesn't mean I can't compare the line ups as a whole

Knack looks amusing

Drive Club will be hurt by GT6 on PS3

inFamous and Kill zone both declined quite a bit in sales. Especially inFamous, I don't know why Sony wouldn't let those Studios make new IPs instead of pushing two that the market isn't responding to.

I don't doubt Sony will show more, but I haven't seen a winner yet.

As for MS, we know very little, except Forza 5 and Quantum Break. Forza is a guaranteed hit, and Quantum is from Remedy, so chances are it'll be amazing. Other than that we'll have to wait for E3, but if they do have many core AAA titles in the works, then I think there's a good chance they'll have the upper hand on Sony by a good margin.

Of course I could be wrong. Time will tell.

All Sony really has to show me is FF versus and I could care less what else they show anyway.

So, what if Drive Club is "hurt" by GT6 or Forza 5? Will that make it a bad game not worth buying? I bet many people who buy a PS4 will choose it as one of their first titles, even if they also get GT6, and some will pick it up especially because it's NOT like GT6!

Forza is a guaranteed hit? Did I have an illusion or did I just see FORZA 4 SELLING LESS THAN FORZA 3? and then Forza Horizon selling the worst of all? OH yeah, I guess that franchise IS DEAD! Microsoft should can it and make the studio do something else!!!

What? Star trek is a AAA game now? Amazing!
