Just out of curiosity, what did the PS3 do that left you sore?

I was the biggest PS fan since PS1 days, heck I own almose 600 games from the PS family. I was one of the first person to pre-order a PS3 and purchased it day 1, 3rd person in line over 100 people in line.  I lay down over $900 for it was dissapointed what it have to offer in the first year. Why pay for the premium price when the 360 had better performing multi-play games and Sony 1st party games at the time was a joke compare to the 360. After 9 months I got fed up and purchase the 360 and really never look back. Biggest dissapointment in my gaming life, you expect a system that cost almost double your competitor will provide more quality or equal to.

You poor, damn fool. You missed out on so much. So so much. Also, the 360 got a year early start, of course they were in better standing than the PlayStation at the time. If you look at the PS3 now, outselling the 360 consistently, it really paints a different picture. All consoles launches up to the first year or so are usually pretty sour. Just look at the Wii U, you can't honestly say it is doing much better than the PS3 back then.

You can't really be mad at anybody but yourself for rushing a purchase without (what I can only assume) proper research on upcoming titles, features, etc. Blind fanboyism is dangerous.

@ bolded 1

The WiiU exclusive games are 10x better then the PS3 first year exclusive games. The WiiU cost me $420 that half as much I invested into the PS3 at launch.

@bolded 2

That's the reason I'm not a Sony fanboy anymore.

Eh, that is debatable. The super mario bros Wii U is essential the same as the Wii, most of the noticeble games from third party were ports of sequels (ACIII, MEIII, Batman: AC) and other games like Tekken, skylanders, Darksiders and ninja gaiden have been done for some time. ZombiU is perphaps the best exclusive the Wii U had at launch, it's like the Heavenly Sword of the WiiU. NintendoLand was also kinda cool, I guess.

All I'm saying is that you missed out on a lot of PS goodness. While i understand why you turn your back on PlayStation, you could have easily came back when the PS3 slim came out around '09 which is when I bought it which ran for $300, a very reasonable price and at a great time which was when the PS3 started to pick up some serious momentum.

If you switch to PC gaming, you can get 3rd party games, tons of indie exclusives, AND have a good computer AT THE SAME TIME!

ORDER NOW!!

I'm REALLY considering this as of late. I hear nothing but good things about Steam.

Good...good...

Welcome.

Expecting the industry to put its weight behind the Wii U because that's what you bought is wishful thinking at best.

People are often irrational though, particularly when it comes to consumer loyalty.

The reality is, 3rd party development for the Wii U will be taking a back seat to both the XB1 and the PS4, so now would be a good time to either convince yourself that Nintendo developed games are the only ones that really deserve your hard earned gaming dollars, or you can build yourself a decent game capable PC for more than either of those consoles and then you won't have to be bitter over the lack of support the Wii U is most likely to be seeing in the coming years.

That's really something. The Wii U is so bad, yet you still plan to settle for just that. The current state of the video game industry isn't pretty.

How the hell is the Wii U bad? Is Nintendo stop producing 1st party games for it? I love Nintendo because it produce the best 1st party games out of the three so I'm confident that the good games will be there.

I mean the console was so unfinished in almost all aspects. It's getting better with more games being released in the second half of the year, OS updates, Virtual Console being added to the eShop etc.

By the time the PS4 and Xbox One launch, the Wii U should look quite good in a real world comparison. But there's no denying that the console had a rocky start.

First year for any console is usually pretty rough. Specifically in regards to software releases.

While plenty of consoles have had strong first years in terms of meeting or beating sales projections, they often did so by riding the wave of consumer enthusiasm thanks to hype, trends and good old fashioned marketing.

I do think the Wii U is going to be more like the GC in terms of market relevancy though (it will still sell more units). Always a great home for some of the best quality 1st party games in the industry, but not the go to platform developers will be flocking to in an effort to sell the most software.

At the end I have enough games to last me a decade without buying anything new so skipping a few years of new stuff won't bother me too much. Honestly the only thing I might miss is the next Halo but that won't be enough for me to give into M$ bullshit.

For a while :).

I'll keep to gaming on my laptop and on the next Sony console. 3 Generations now that I've been perfectly happy as a Sony gamer and I don't see that changing for now. If Sony can do anything more to ensure I never leave is to sponsor a complete HD overhaul of Final Fantasy IX and a new Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver game that could be developed by Naughty Dog. Do that and shut and take my gaming soul, cuz I'm done.
Ah, sweet dreams.

im whith you.

xbox one just a shity console

I was a single console owner during the GC era. I may also become a single console owner next gen. I have a WiiU, I already love it despite knowing that the big guns are not out yet. If it has enough 3rd party support (idc id graphics are downscaled) I'll stay with WiiU only. But since this is unlikely, I'll probably end up buying a ps4 in 2014or2015 when the price drop.

Also, I totaly follow you on you'r sony fanboys comment. My stay on N4G made me hate Sony only because of it's fans. But they are better than M$ in my opinion so I don't mind getting over it.

I don't believe there are any good / bad fanboys. All fanboys in general are obnoxious, be they MS, Sony, Nintendo or simply PC. We simply agree with some more than others, one way or another, and that's what makes some of them seem bearable...but there's truly no difference.
