Well it are all physical games. Their are also digital games releasing that may have an impact.

It's a natural progression since the PSP left, as it was always overrepresented at COMG, and the closed stores. Doesn't help that the Vita, PS3, and 3DS are basically gone, with the PS4 on its way too.

Nice find! Keep in mind that the baseline difference is partially due to this being from that year's summer, versus the low point of this year. But yeah, that chart is also just a lot more colorful than the charts are nowadays...
