Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA taking too much heat for not supporting Nintendo?

The real reason why EA isnt supporting nintendo. though some people just cant accept that. to put thing things into perspective the Need for speed version on vita outsold all these combined. its nothing to do with hate, conspirasies or what ever. its purely business.

1 Need for Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion Game WiiU 2013 Racing Electronic Arts 0.01 0.01 0.00 0.00 0.02

BAM  Look at that.  Yet I'll play bad guy.  But this is my entire point.

I get why some Nintendo fans would hate them, but maybe Nintendo is also to blame for their bad relationships. I don't like how whenever a 3rd party developer does something against Nintendo, they're suddenly the devil and deserve to die.

I don't think it would have that big of a deal if EA hadn't come out on Nintendo's stage E3 2011 and talked about how awesome the WiiU was and this was the beginning of an unprecedented partnership between EA and Nintendo

So do you think from a business stand point it is worth making games for a console that has 3m units in the wild and EA games just dont well well in the 1st place on nintendo consoles?  How does it make sense from a business standpoint releasing games yet on them.  It is up to Nintendo to give them a reason to and they havent.

Youre doing this wrong.

How many units have PS4 / Nextbox sold? How many games will EA currently have in development for said consoles?

Difference is, EA's biggest franchises sell well on MSFT/Sony consoles.  On nintendo consoles they sell next to nothing.

Where is the proof? Give me names, games, numbers.

Fine.  Do you really think me (Jay) would make a controversial thread without having some kind of backup? Keep in mind the Wii has also outsold the X360/PS3

Madden

X360 - 18m
PS3 - 12m
Wii - 4m

FiFA

X360 - 21m
PS3 - 28m
Wii - FiFa - 5m

Need for Speed

X360 - 13m
PS3 - 14m
Wii - 4m

This list goes on and on.

How much profit did each version rake in? The half-assed Wii versions were much cheaper to develop, so they could have raked in as much profit as the HD versions...

Considering the Wii has 100m units and can only sell as little as each game did that isnt saying much for a console that has 3m units in the wild.

Honestly, every normal dev would shed tears of joy if his game sold 5Mil copies...

For almost no considerable cost to make? Man count me in.

Nintendo should have released a more powerful system to at least get some ports from infinity or ps4....too bad they went cheap and now paying the price

Even if Nintendo made the most powerful system of the 8th gen, the situation wouldn't have changed at all. Power is not an issue here, business relations are.

A much more meaningful number I might say so myself.

5m on a userbase of 100m.  now do the math and tell me how much tthat is for 3m units

I fail to see how this post relates to my previous question. DO you have any profit numbers showing the HD versions actually made EA more money in the end?

Considering the X360 version of madden averaged 2.22m for each game and a game that uses the same engine every year while the wii version averaged 630k I think it is pretty safe to say that HD madden is profiting much more on the HD twins.

EA is a business that has chosen to invest their resources in one direction and not another. That's the bottom line. As those resources are EA's to invest, they get to make the decision on that. Not gamers. Not bloggers. Not forum-goers.

This is the same for any business that has finite resources, and it's obvious that EA is trying to streamline the process of where their resources are spent in order to maximize efficiency. If you only had a certain amount to invest, wouldn't you try to invest where you get the greatest return?

Sometimes when reading these forums, I have to step back and remember that not everyone has business experience. I read people talking about expensive investments as though these companies use free Monopoly money that they can just print out at will. "Oh, it doesn't cost anything else to make a Wii U version, they've already got the PS3 and 360 versions!" It kind of blows my mind that people think that, as though these games are made by a couple of guys working for minimum wage who can knock out a port in a couple of days.

I know with the Vita, it kind of gets frustrating when certain companies don't develop for it. Do I think they're making a mistake by not working to help build an alternative market? Yes. Do I think Vita gamers are hungry for content and that the Vita represents a "blue ocean"? Absolutely. Am I mad that these companies aren't willing to invest in the game system that I like a lot? No, I'm not. They can do as they wish with their money, even if I believe they should rethink their position.

I've got to say, a lot of the rage I see directed at EA seems kind of childish.

Yes.

Using Madden and FIFA is kinda pointless as the series' can profit on bare minimum sales. The games on Wii, PS2 and PSP are simply roster updates using the same engine. 100,000 units would be a likely profit.

Madden 13 on Wii U would have been a better example as the game simply bombed.

Every FIFA game on Wii has sold over 500,000 units aside from the WC game. Again, easy profit. We see the PS2 version releasing Yearly that sell ~100k. FIFA 10 and 11 on Wii sold ~1 Million units, for example.

Need for Speed is a fairer example. Though the number of games is 6 on Wii and 8/9 on PS3 and 360 respectively.

Right.

Im waiting for the rest of your list. Im eager to see if it is full of Yearly franchises that are there for a quick profit.
