€dit: some people here say microsoft still get all the japanese games but really? all the time a new game releases in japan for ps3 i think "ahh one more game not for 360". except for the really big games and some weird games of very small developers, xbox is missing a lot of japanese games in my opinion.

Isn't that the point?Sure, they miss several games, but if they got the big ones and those small gems what's the problem?

And be careful with your definition of "weird". Or is every game from a not-so-known developer weird? Cave do some great shumps and all of them are exclusive to the 360. They don't get money from Microsoft, but the sales of their games. You ignore the taste of western players for eastern games.

but they only get some games which only sell few thousand units because it is so damn easy to develop for the 360. if it would be harder, xbox would probably not get these games anymore.

and weird for western standards. i don't think weird is a bad word to describe something which many people in westen find odd. and i don't ignore the taste of western players for eastern games but there are simply games in japan only very few people in western care about.

and if weird is really such a bad word sry for that, didn't know that (if you know my posts you will see that i use that word pretty often)

Sorry then, I thought you were using the word in a derogative manner =P

But I don't agree with that first statement. There are some japanese games (albeit a lot of them multiplatform) that are difficult to develop but they are released Ps3/360 anyway. And they sell pretty bad, but the console still gets 'em.

maybe but i believe it's harder to develop for wii u as for 360 (i think 360 has the best tools you can imagine) and if 360 would be like wii u, 360 wouldn't get them anymore.

but well, maybe i'm totally wrong, was just an opinion and i don't really know how it is to develop for the wii u.

Let's us wait and see. Perhaps WiiU's luck will change within these months.

This does little to appease Sony/PlayStation fans.

Off topic post and obvious flamebait. Do you need to be reported before you correct this?

Japan is NOT irrelevant whatsoever. Home consoles sell less than handhelds do, but that doesn't mean they're non existent all of a sudden! PS3 sales north of 9,2 million over there is 1/8 of the total sales, that's very relevant.

Sorry, I did not mean that in a derogatory sense. I just meant that a lot of criticism of Nintendo on this site comes from PlayStation fans, and thus a Microsoft comparison isn't very useful for making comparisons.

Now that I understand that the statement was derogatory, I'll remove it.

hahaha sorry man, i can see now that you were not trolling or flamebaiting, so no hard feeling. I was not going to report you anyways :)

And your edit is hilarious :D

So... Japan is irrelevant now?

well yeah, pretty much. It is still a big market on its own, but when you consider that their gaming taste is totally different than in the rest of the world, Japan becomes a niche.

japan is still the second largest market in the world (per country) in terms of video games...... yeah if you put japan against the rest of the worl it becomes a niche..

WELL if JAPAN iS IRRELEVANT this will hurt much more Sony than Nintendo in terms of market share.

Without Japan Wii will still be number one but Sony will fall much below Microsoft!

Which is precisely why Japan is very relevant

For once I think we do agree on something

Switch!!!

... 'Japan irrelevant' .. HAHAHA.. of course being a fan of the not-so-popular consoles in japan.. I too would be incline to call them irrelevant.. lol

You're not a fan of WiiU?

OT: Microsoft's relationship with Japanese devs and publishers is still probably better than Nintendo's in the West. They get most of the multiplatform Japanese games while Nintendo don't.

Edit: And that is with pathetic sales in Japan.

yeh your right Japan irrelevant!.. it doesnt like the wiiU.. so they dont matter.. so is the UK and the US.. all irrelevant! ..

and those guys who hates the wiiU.. they all pretty much very irrelevant.. =)

Maybe us westerners need to be more patriotic and strictly buy western games,
if the Japanese refuse to buy our products why shouldn't we also?

Third in HW sales, UK took second place.    Japan is not irrevalent no country really is but in the next ten years I don't see the market growing in Japan I see it rather go down.  While the most markets will be still growing.

The US is already doing that with the 360. It's the reason why it's selling so much there.
