Agreed, but that's an issue you'll find on most forums. There is always a large percentage of people who feel the need to focus solely on purely positive or purely negative aspects of something. Everything has it's pros and cons.

Unfortunately we seem to live in a time where everything is a matter of extremes, the middle ground is being eliminated. Something is either the best thing ever, or the worst thing ever.

Shame really

No because 1. I couldn't care less about any of those games and 2. If I did then I would just buy an Xbox 360 again. The only reason I don't have an Xbox now is because all 3 of my 360's got RROD and it wasn't worth buying another one since the only exclusive they have that I want to play is Forza and maybe Halo since it's the only FPS that I enjoyed playing.

If everyone is so concerned about exclusives why not just own all consoles? Its been 7 years since they all came out so there NO excuse to not own all of them if they have games you like.

This is something I know. However, this kind of threads make some people I respect go actually nuts. It gets on my nerves, and as you say, it is a truly shame.

I've been meaning to reply to some posts here, but would it be worth it? In the end I could probably end up saying stupid things in order to defend my console of choice, and that would take us to point zero.

I don't see how that will happen to me at this point, unless I am missing something.

No, Selnor gets excited about every Microsoft anouncement not just Xbox anouncements and creates a thread about it. LOL!

This is the thread I am most proud of even though it did not get a lot of replies :

Were the Sony fans on these forums upset about the loss of those exclusives. Absolutely they were, but it wasn't for any reason that was discussed in this thread. On these forums there is a meta game being played where positions are held and fortified. These defections didn't just cost the Sony strong contingent points. They were nothing less then pride obliterating bitch slaps that undermined their position catastrophically. Exclusives were very much their last redoubt seeing as just about everything else was plainly out of their favor.

Sony came perilously close to being pushed not only out of contention during its first couple years on the market it came within a hair of being pushed out of the market, and the only thing that prevented that was Sony's brazen willingness to just throw billions of dollars at the problem, and take a stupendous financial pounding. Their ears are effectively still pounding to this day.

Sony however wasn't alone in its suffering its fans felt the pain too. The console suffered a horrendous game drought, and a even more reprehensible role playing game drought. It wasn't even that they were just pissed, because they were getting it so bad. They also had to watch frustrated as others got it so damn good. The only real defense or justification that they could offer up. Was the console potential as far as high end exclusive games. Which they felt were guaranteed.

The reasoning which was flawed by the way. Became a almost dogmatic mantra. No matter what argument was presented against the PS3 the typical rebuttal was that these specific exclusives were the only justification that anyone could even need. When games started to outright defect, go multiple platform, or the PS3 got delayed, and obviously inferior ports. That terribly flawed argument which was the only one left to seemingly be defeated began to unravel in a big way.

Needless to say they were completely backed into a corner, and getting thrashed for defiance. A lot of them had placed self worth into that argument being the right one. So its being proven completely wrong also colored them as failures. People react in one of two ways when they get worked into such a position. They either run, or they just fucking snap. By the time Final Fantasy XIII went multiple platform at that Microsoft press conference. A lot of Sony fans on these forums were so strung out and frustrated. That what was a simple business move became nothing less then a personal assault on their person.

Thankfully for the Sony fans. The PS3 survived those first couple harrowing years to become at least a player. They still came in third for the generation, but not a incredibly distant third, and the quality of the brand bounced back. Most of them at least don't hinge the crux of their argument on a single thing anymore. So they don't get stuck in a all or nothing position. Now that isn't to say that game exclusivity isn't still a huge factor in their position. Just that its not everything anymore.
