Forums - General Discussion - ESPN journalist Chris Broussard on NBA's Jason Collins: Homosexuality is a sin and living in sin isn't Christian

so -this guy is not allowed to have his own opinion?I'm pretty sure if a muslim tv reporter from a muslim country has the same opinion(and you will find hundreds of such examples) noone would care about it.Have some people more rights than others?is political correctness just a thing invented especially for western people to keep them quiet?

i don't share his point of view but he is allowed to have one and homosexuals are not an untouchable masterrace.

Why are you condemning him for his opinion? That's pretty ignorant. Christians don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle; you act as if that's news?

I am not "condemning" his opinion. I am criticizing it, because it is based on an ancient text that is mostly irrelevant today but people like him like to pick and choose chapters as they see fit to elevate themselves. This is my own opinion. You're free to criticize it just like I criticize Broussard.

I am willing to bet that Jason Collins is a Christian himself, since Chris Broussard talks about him as if he is. So Collins doesn't agree with his own lifestyle?

it absolutely does not matter wether a text is ancient or not-it is about quality

and i would not call a text irrelevant which has so much influence about several hundreds  million people.

I agree with him, just my opinion

i haven't watched the video and i'm not a christian or anything but " it is based on an ancient text that is mostly irrelevant today" thats the thing

for you the bible may be irrelevant but for those who still value it they generally believe that homosexuality is a sin

that is one of the beliefs that christians adhere to in general

I've always wondered. Does the Bible says especifically that Homosexuality is a sin? Whenever I engage in a discussion about homosexuality with a Christian they always com to me with the Gomorra and Sodoma. And in that part there's nothing that says so; it's just that people there were very pervert and tried to take advantage of the angels visiting the city.

So NBA player Jason Collins was yesterday the first to openly come out as a homosexual in a major American team sport ...ever, according to my source. Let's hear what one journalist by the name of Chris Broussard has to say about it:

<blah blah blah>

People like this still exist in high places in the West?

I see you don't know the United States of America very well.

There are 6 passages that refrence homosexuals.
Genesis 19:1–11, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, Romans 1:26–27, I Corinthians 6:9 and I Timothy 1:10

I don't know exactly what they say but most people point to Leviticus I think. As for Sodom and Gomorrah, that's in Genesis and I don't think that was the main reason for the destruction of the cities. There was more to it than just homosexuality. Also, I guess the citizens were raping people and it was a mutual relationship between two people.

I agree with what the guy said but I would like to know what the question to him was and why he was asked to be on the show.

This is not controversial for a christian although it's a sensitive topic.

In christianity it's not a sin to be homosexual but it's sin to commit homosexual acts. That may sound unfair, but that's that person's yoke in life. We all have a yoke of some kind. Things in our personality that makes us sin, things we have to deal with as christians.

Thanks. I shall look into 'em and see what I can make out of it.

I don't agree with him buts at least he is coherent is condemning other things the bible deems to be sin. Most christians I know will happily turn a blind eye to the pre-martial sex thing.
