Forums - General Discussion - Is this a good tv?

Buy a plasma. Buy a plasma. Buy a plasma.

As someone who DIDN'T buy a plasma 3 years ago when I spent a shit ton on a TV, I can tell you for certain that you SHOULD buy a plasma.

Do it.

It's bigger, cheaper, looks BETTER and the refresh rate is just higher.

No more burn in. No worrying about the half-life of the tv. Just...

buy a plasma.

Try summoning disolitude, he can be more helpful than most of us.

As a general rule, if you have the budget and space at home, get a Panasonic plasma.

I would actually advice: If you have the budget and space at home, get any TV and also get a good audio system.. the sound coming out of TVs these days is horrible..

So I found another TV for a decent deal at Costco

http://www.amazon.com/LG-47LS5700-47-Inch-1080p-LED-LCD/dp/B006ZH0LNS

I can get it for $699

You can get a VIZIO Smart 3D HD TV (both LCD & LED, your pick) at that price or lower, so you will have much more pixel density then lousy 2D TVs.

I honestly don't care for 3D although I'm tempted to not buy a TV until Sony's E3 to see if the PS4 and/or X360 will use 3D as a main component for gaming, I don't want to buy a tv and find out next month it won't support some main gaming features. So for now I really don't care for 3D one bit.

Also isn't VIZIO a more lower end brand then LG? I already have a LG and had no problems with it.

isn't plasma worst on energy, and gives off a worst picture then LED? I never did like plasma from the beginning.

Plasma's are known for more accurate picture and deeper blacks. LED's are super bright and make you feel like the sun just came into your tv room. LED's are therefore better for brightly lit rooms and have less glare. If you are going to put this in basement Plasmas are going to be fine.

Yes they do use more energy than LCD/LED tv's.

This will be for my living room, and there can be a lot of light in the afternoons and evenings.

Well, you can get a 47 inch 3D TV of a number of brands for that price at places like WalMart & Amazon & many other cheap places.

You can play Batman Arkham Asylum & Arkham City in 3D, also Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and many other PS3 & 360 games in 3D.
