isn't plasma worst on energy, and gives off a worst picture then LED? I never did like plasma from the beginning.

Plasma's are known for more accurate picture and deeper blacks. LED's are super bright and make you feel like the sun just came into your tv room. LED's are therefore better for brightly lit rooms and have less glare. If you are going to put this in basement Plasmas are going to be fine. 

Yes they do use more energy than LCD/LED tv's.

This will be for my living room, and there can be a lot of light in the afternoons and evenings.
