The WiiU has no competition yet.

Edit: Remember Full Metal Jacket? First half of the movie is boot camp, training, preparation, second half is WAR. Till october, Nintendo is in Full Metal Jacket, first half, after october, it will be a huge shit sandwich, and we all will have to take a bite.

I have seem people comparing the WiiU to the PS3, which is totally unfair, the Sony System is almost 7 years old, the WiiU is brand new, of course the WiiU HAS to have the edge in every single thing, if it hasn´t, it is a LOUD SHAME, if it has, it is only normal and excpected.

In tech, we always assume the new thing is better and cutting edge, it is what is is.

However, the trial of WiiU does not start until the new kids arrive, PS4 and NEXTBOX, at october-november 2013, THEN, and only them, we will have a good old fashioned console showdown, and it will be epic!

By them, the WiiU big guns will be all out, Mario, Zelda, the whole thing, the newborn consoles will have to capture our minds and hearts, not only against the WiiU, but also against the two most amazing video game consoles ever released, PS3 and XBOX360. These old beasts were cutting edge when they came, and still can put up a fight, their games look good, play good and, at PSN and sales in general, don´t even cost much (I bought the amazing Deus Ex Human Revolution for 9 dollars at PSN yesterday).

The WiiU has a nice window of opportunity in these next 6-8 months, let us see what happens. Anyway, it is a exciting time to be a gamer.

PS360 is the current competition. And compared to them the Wii U is expensive and has hardly any games. But it might look better when PS4 and Nextbox are out, as the Wii U will be cheaper and have more games than them.

The Wii U would actually be better off if the other consoles come out, because if the Nextbox doesn't come out until next year the 360 takes the low end market while PS4 takes next gen market for Christmas.

Dreamcast 2 but with no games

Yes man, but, there are 150 million PS3s and Xbox360s out there, the WiiU is competing against himself by now, because, it IS the new thing on the market.

Two kind of people are buying the WiiU:

1- Nintendo die hard fans, who would never buy another console from other company.

2 - Gamers who want a next gen console, because they had enough of the current gen.

So, in any case, WIIU is competing ONLY against himself, because it is the only new Nintendo console and the only new console overall.

Its competing with PS3 and 360 for shelf space and games. Like it or not.

The Wii U is in direct competition with PS3 and 360.

Yeah, but there should be a number 3, all the casual gamers looking for something cheap and fun. And that is where all the sales are going to PS360. I mean don't you think all the sales going to PS360 are going to the people Nintendo want.

Good question, I don´t know. What these people have been playing for the last seven years, I wonder. Probably young kids getting these consoles as a gift or something, I don´t know. 

But, for what the WiiU is, it has no competition: it is a brand new console.

It is like saying the Toyota Corolla is competition to the LEARJET, they both exist at the same tima, but they don´t compete. I have all consoles, the only one I don´t have is the Wii and WiiU.

I am thinking about buying a new console, what are my options right now?

Is the same deal with Corolla-Learjet, if you want a plane, you don´t get near a Toyota Corolla. I mean, the WiiU is a NEW console, you enter a store and it is the only new thing, the other boys have been there for 7 years. Being the only one of his kind, he competes only against himself, FOR NOW.

well maybe it gets compared to the 360/ps3 is because thats what it looks like, it defiantly looks nothing like what ive seen with the ps4.
