Forums - Sales - Global HW 23rd march up. USA & EU SW

Good spike for the Wii U but the boost is likely short-lived, it will fall back down into the small-to-mid 30's within 5-6 weeks, I think. Vita headed back down, a tad slower than I thought though.
PS3 dropping, 3DS doing okay and 360 down as well. Headed for the spring/summer lull of Q2 now.

Lego City Undercover had a decent first week, I reckon its quite popular in America and parts of Europe, Monster Hunter doing about what I expected, not too shabby actually.

Gears of War has abviously overstayed its welcome, the first one managed over 600k first week, granted it was during the holidays but it was on a tiny installed base and the franchise was new and unproven. The second one, still on a fairly small installed base, managed a whooping 1.8 million on a novmber launch and the third one managed over 3 million units week one when launching in september.

Where is NFS:U? It would be shameful to see Criterion not be rewarded for their apparently great work on the port.

Moar reason for 3rd parties to skip. DOOMEDDDDD.

sadly this is somewhat true. it landed on the 67th place, i mean damn but thats just bad!

were people expecting this to do better? Its not like the game wasnt released on 4 different platforms months ago. 3 of those platforms being much more popular than Wii U. Its common sense.

And what were people expecting for MH? It is a niche series in the US that few people care about here. Doesnt matter if its exclusive or not, and doenst matter how popular some people wish it to be.

I didn't expect much, but it makes you wonder why they bother with the late ports to WiiU.

maybe to make it look like they are doing something? or just to appease some people?

its still kind of low to be honest. i wasnt expecting this to sell 100K or something. but it pretty much opened with around 5K, for comparison mortal combat vita, a game that been out for over a year at the time, opened with 17K in the usa. i was hoping it would sell higher because its a great game, and because the developers deserve it for the great work they dont on the game

Mortal Kombat for Vita actually ADDED features, where i dont think NFS for Wii U did and MK Vita retailed for less, while NFS for Wii U is the price of a brand new game and not a port. Not to mention MK Vita has the added bonus of being portable, which would help its sales, something that NFS Wii U does not benefit from. Those  factors right there in mind and the Wii U version of NFS sold about as much as I thought it would. Good port or not its still just that a late port with not that much added features if any at all. Pretty sure the devs got their cut just on the PS3 version alone, so any thing made here is just candy money.

while i agree with what you said, the Vita new features were not all that though, just a few feature's added. this port could have performed better, and should have because its an amazing game. sadly it didnt

I dont see HOW it could have peformed better. Look at the sales of the series overall, look at them on non Sony consoles and look at the sales of Wii U in general. My thing is if you're going do a late port it has to have features to justify it being late and make up for lost time OR it has to be cheap almost budget. NFS was neither which is the fault of EA, unless EA doesnt care and they already made money on the original versions.

Wii U sales went from abysmal to mediocre in a single week, thanks to 2 pretty ok games.. That's encouraging to see. And some people actually thought getting games wouldn't make a difference? Lol, wasn't long before that was proven false. You'd think people would be wiser about such things by now, with 40 years of gaming history to draw upon.

God, I hate such comments -_- Who were these "people"? Can't believe there still are people who after every single release of a big game discover the fact that new games sell consoles and think it's some kind of their triumph. The levels of ignorance seem to be endless.

I kinda find it hard to believe these numbers. Wii U spike in NA is surprising, but this really shows how much it's struggling, that 30k consoles sold seems shockingly high. It should be ok when really good games come, cause just like in the case of Vita, the market is reacting to new games being released. The bad part is that we have to wait at least a year for that... I still have a feeling that Vita outsold it though, since it sold a bit more in Japan and 5k in NA has always proven to be undertracking. Still, Sony needs to launch a Western offensive similar to what they did in Japan to keep Vita going. 300k Vitas sold in a month is a nice score, hope they can keep the momentum going and somehow stay round the level of 50k per week.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Europe up.
